nope, after driving one, i cannot deny it was an excellent vehicle to drive. i just dont like the style and for that kinda cash, IMO, you damnn well better like everything about the item youre buying. so, ive had a change of heart and im going to go look at Baja boats; specifically a 38 special fully loaded, way i see it, the cash i woulda spent on this new viper (80-90K)will make a nice down payment on a killer boat like the Baja 38 special.

Oh yeah baby, those Baja's are NICE!! Your still keeping the RT right? Your RT looks especially nice with those HRE's. :D When you get the boat you will have to take a pic of the RT and it together. Set the two up in the pic to where it looks like the RT is towing the Baja. :D

Nooooo, not Baja, you will be so sorry the first time you get blown off by something with a stepped hull, I have been down this fast boat road several times, if you're a Viper guy make sure you don't buy something that's gonna get passed by something faster. Also, DON'T buy new, half the value goes away when it goes in the water the first time, there are at least 6 great web sites to shop used. Autotrader has a boatrader section. Think Fountain. It's the Viper of offshore boats.

lee; i like the Baja as a total package, and with the loaded options setup its got enough balls to get me in trouble

slaughter; ill get right on that, LOL

pauls; if i could i would but then i wouldnt have a big ol boat, LOL. tell you what; you show me that technique of yours to get my 60' down into the 1.3-1.4s and we'll talk

Well, remember I warned ya. Saying the Baja is a complete package is exactly like saying the Vette or Mustang is a better overall package than the Viper. And you're going to have to put a lot more horsepower $ in a nonstepped hull to keep up with some of the Fountains & Formulas. Do yourself a favor at least shop the two brands I mentioned. I cannot tell you the money I have spent learning the hard way about offshore boats.

I agree, as we've owned both Formulas and Fountains and Magnums (although that one doesn't really apply to this, it did haul serious *** for a 60ft boat). Theres a Baja dealer down the street, their powerboats are good for the price but don't compare to one's like Fountain, I do like the design of their open sport/center console boats.

Right now we only have a 29ft Fountain with twin 300 outboards in place of the 250's that came with it. The boat fly's in open water so effortlessly, their hulls are excellent and make best use of power. Although I'm guessing your not looking for an open sport, even if it is very fast.

Formula's FastTech hull is another awsome hull, very solid and stable and fast. our Formula's have been excellent boats

I'd rather find a used Cigarette, like a 38ft Top Gun, for the price of a new 38ft Baja. A friend of ours has a 38 footer with twin 602 crate engines each with a supercharger and the boat is sick. Neighbor has a Cig also but had a custom setup in the rear with triple n/a 502's and it's also a sick fast boat. Only problem with them is their seriously fast thirst for fuel lol, but they are also very solid and reliable boats, very hard to beat for the price that you can find a used one for.

ill definitely look at fountains lee and i thnk you for the tip, when i said total package im talking mainly looks and amenities in conjunction with power and cost also. speed is not my priority although it is nice thing.

rdustman, I hear ya, I was only commenting due to my experience, if you haven't done this type of boat before it is addictive and VERY competitive. It's like buying a Viper and then never thinking about a supercharger. If you've ever thought of modding the Viper it is inevitable you will start modding the boat. And that from a cost standpoint makes Vipers look like Hondas. Just make sure to buy a reasonably fast hull of whatever brand so you don't have to waste a lot of money bolting on hp. Good luck.
