This week I finally had the chance to visit the hollowed ground from which my GTS came 2 years ago-Woodhouse. I was in Omaha on legal business and popped in on Bill and Bob. I know many of you have been there but for those of you who have not, you should go.
Blair, Ne ( I hope I don't offend Bob/Bill) is the definition of the "middle of nowhere". My guess is that there are only a few thousand folks there. However, if you added the Woodhouse cars and trucks to the population from Bob's huge dealerships you might reach 7 digits. If I was ever in the truck market, it would be the first place I would turn .
The highlight of any trip to Woodhouse is the tour of the snake pit where dozens of Vipers reside--be still my heart. What a candy store! I felt the urge to get a case of Zaino and spend the rest of my life there.
Bob and Bill were as I expected- down to earth and very accomodating. I recall that when I bought my GTS it was a typical Pemberton deal--he had no idea what my RT trade was gonna be like other than my word ,and I had no idea what the GTS would be like other than his word. I was more than happy with the deal.
After I left the dealership I was struck that it might have been the first time I have been to a dealership where no one tried in the least to sell me a car. Bob and Bill seemed genuinely pleased that a Viper owner from Richmond Va had come by to say hello. I am still warming up to the SRT, (I have to say seeing the silver ones Bob had impressed me), but if I was to buy a new snake, there is no doubt it would be coming from Blair.

I spent a couple days there one weekend.....you need a helicopter to see the whole thing. Honestly, there are hillsides behind hillsides, carpeted with new Fords and Dodge's..... but the VIPER SNAKE PIT is a stand-alone wharehouse that just HISSSSSes as you walk in. State-or-art alignment facility, and I was especially interetsted to see several Viper race motors in various states of prep.... as well as the damage caused to 2 by some 'suspect' mods. The Viper Shrine waiting room with a real motor as a coffeetable, and ORECA memorabilia under glass....... Mecca Indeed.

I had also dropped by a few years ago to visit Bill. He knew I wanted a Viper and also knew it would be a few years before it happened. He took time out of a crazy saturday to give me a thrill ride in a yellow RT. After spending about an hour in Blair I drove back to Kansas City.

At the end of 2002 I bought an '03 Cobra from Bill. Still not satisfied of reaching my goal I was informed that my dream car was available with only 146 miles. Needless to say, sight unseen and on Bills word I put down my deposit in August of '03 and now I own the car I've always wanted!!

The Viper pit was buzzing back then as well and hopefully soon I will add another Woodhouse Viper to my little pit in the real "middle of nowhere", Goodland Kansas.

I'd rather not think of it as mecca.....try Heaven. Just my opinion. Now a warehouse full of Vipers is my idea of Holy Ground!
