Well guys here is the latest update and it really *****. I hope these pics I just took uploaded from the salvage yard. I balled my eyes out and it really hurts. The car is totally crushed and to make things worse, the guy who stole it has an address just 5 miles from me and I just drove by the house. He has NOT been arrested yet as when he wrecked the car about 2 hours after he stole it, a report had not been made yet and the harris co. sherrif just let him off with a failure to keep in a lane and noted he was drinking but NO breath or drug check was taken. The case no. takes 5-7 days to register in the system I was told and THEN with my accident report I gave them, they will send all this to the D As office to make the arrest. What a lousey system we have here in Texas. It was noted he was taken to the hospital and was not wearing the harness and that there was no air bag as "the car had a racing type wheel". I have faxed the accident report and spoken on the phone with a detective but no one can do anything right now. Can you believe a cop would let a guy go that is NOT the registered owner in this situation?. I was also told he would only be arrested for possesing stolen property and not theft as they might not be able to prove he was the one who actually stole the car. This has ruined my whole life and thoughts about people. Hope the pics show up.

Messed up!!

I had a car stolen as I waited for it to come out the other end of a local car wash. When it came out to be dried it kept going. They found the car and it was repaired but it was never the same. I'm sorry for your loss but it might be better totaled and insurance paid for then repaired and returned. I wish they never found my car.

I know the moderator stepped in to put a stop to the threats, and that's a good thing...but in my opinion, TRUE JUSTICE will probably not happen here...the authorities are not going to show up and take fingerprints or even interview neighbors..it brings to mind of an excerpt from very important book:

Exodus 21:23-25 23 If any harm follows, then you shall give life for life, 24 eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, 25 burn for burn, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.

This is sounding more and more like a travesty of justice. I understand that the owner lives in a very nice area of Texas and he is probably a man of higher moral values than myself, but I thought that Texans took care of each other...surely the Texas: Houston VCA chapter has some members more like myself!

That is a bad wreck. I use the term "wreck" because it was no "accident". I see criminal and civil complaints against him. Hope he has equity in that house......he is going to need it.

The best to you in this crappy time.

Sick is an under statement. It is apparent A LOT of time and money was spent building that car.

That just *****!!!!!!! Now did anyone take finger prints at the house to see if you can get him on B & E. You know these idiots cant drive a viper, this was bound to happen! I agree I wish he got more than a broken wrist. You know the "system" is going to fail us all on this one. I hope your Ins. company does the right thing for you.

So sorry for your loss!

Too bad you dont have a neighbor like Joe Horn :

We need more people like Joe Horn in this country, and funny enough, he lives in Texas.

Hope you sue this low life into poverty.

Thanks Jeff however USAA is taking their sweet time about taking care of this. Avoid USAA at all costs. And I have waisted 30 years coverage with them to get this slow service too.

Sorry to hear of your loss. I would get another Viper. Get a security system, a couple of mean --- dogs, hidden cameras in case someone gets in and hide the keys to the Viper when you are gone. Use PO boxes anywhere you get services, items, etc.

I feel pretty safe with my GTS on my hoist and the blower off for now...makes me think twice about working on it with the garage door open for all to see. Bad mojo advertising what some might consider excessive wealth in these tough economic times. Back on subject, it looks like the steering wheel took quite a smack. I bet he has some good reminders on his chest. I wonder if USAA has any concerns with the modifications to the safety equipment (aka belts, seats, steering wheel/airbag). The way this is unfolding, you'll probably get sued by the guy that stole it based on the injuries he received. As Glen Beck would say...I'm just saying....

That's exactly what I was just thinking. I have heard of criminals suing for their own stupidity.
