need advice??

I bought the MGW shift knob and the 1" shorter bolt to lower my shift knob. How do I get the shorter bolt on the shifter? I took the original shif knob off, but I can't seem to get the black plastic thing that is around the bolt connected to the shifter? DO I need to pull the plastic casing off the bolt or what?

Not sure what year you have and if it differ from 02 gts. Just did mine yesterday. Just pull down the shift booth so that you can access the nut on the bottom. Loosened it and then turn your shifter loose. Reverse what you did for the installation. A little thread lock will make sure it will never get loose. Make sure you line up the "snake " before you tightened the nut. Good luck.
