Car is with a friend right now, And he cannot get it to start.

When he turns the key it starts for a second and turns right off. The lights start flashing on the interior, probably meaning the alarm needs to be disabled?

The factory alarm pad was lost... so how do i disable it? and how do i get the car to start? Thanks!

I understand there is an alarm reset/disable in the 'ceiling' of the glove box. You insert your key in that lock cylinder and turn it, then you should be able to start the car.

So says the newbie who doesn't have his car yet. ;)

I think you could disconnect the battery at the post under the hood. Not sure what you mean about the factory pad. Probably a gen 1 guy could be more help. OR why don't you call Chuck Tator? He could give you the answer for sure!

unplugging the battery will just guarantee that you have to reset the alarm with the key fob, which you already said you lost.

I'd call Chuck Tator: 914-763-3136

I would wait to hear what Chuck says but this might work.

Disconnect the battery behind the rear wheel and then remove the 4-5 screws holding the drive's side knee bolster (the pannel below the sterring wheel) and then remove the alarm module (it should be mounted in the area where you put your right hand knee on the trans column). This should disconnect the alarm entierly.

The previous owner put in an aftermarket alarm and I have been toying with the idea of removing it and just using the factory alarm and I seem to remember the book providing the above information.

any time I've had to reset the alarm I've had the key fob

I have no idea what this guy kcobean is talking about, the GenI glove box is a solid plastic box.

I'll check my manual when I get home from work, but I'm sure Chuck will have it solved by then.

Pm sent.

Note: GotaViper, I had a 2000 GTS with this problem. Could be different with a 94.

I was just 'regurgitating' information I've read in similar threads in an effort to help. If this alarm reset feature is only in the 2nd Gens, my apologies.

No slam perceived. I was sure to include the "newbie disclaimer", since I was sharing 'second-hand knowledge' of the issue in question.

Now I know that 1st gens don't have this thing....good to know.

Careful, they'll probably need 2x10 to less'n the angle of their ramp so not to rip your spoiler off. They all say no problem we can do it, till they get there and start scratching their heads. Then it's all about not wanting to spend to much time being careful with it.

The fob is exactly your problem (which you know now!) My Viper tech said there is just about no way to disable the factory alarm. After disconnecting and reconnecting power to the car, the alarm automatically arms itself. Therefore when you go to start it, it WILL start, but the fuel interrupt cuts fuel to the motor and it immediately dies. You HAVE to have a programmed key fob to get past that. You could have saved the tow $$$ and put that towards a key fob......then find someone who knows how to program it. Glad you got it taken care of though...

Not to provide info to steal Vipers, but if the alarm only cuts fuel, you can ground the wire connnecting the fuel pump relay in the trunk to the PCM (which would under normal circumstances groundever it to run the pump) and when key is in run or start the pump will run. (Not safe if you have an accident.) The actual power to the pump is supplied directly from the battery.
