I just looked at some pads that I picked up from someone on this site, and the first thing that strikes me is that they have a different pad area pattern on them (front right set vs front left set). Does anyone know if brembo offers different pads with different compounds for the viper? Or maybe one compound is for the viper, the other is for another set up?

They apparently have different part numbers:

One set has these numbers:
Galfer 3214 FF Brembo
07.5146.12
172.1

The other set has these numbers:
Galfer 3321 GF Brembo
07.7235.10
043.8

I tried to call Brembo today, but they must be closed for the Holiday.

Please let me know. I'm a little pissed here, as this was never disclosed to me before the sale.

Now i see why the ABOVE photo he sent me doesnt show the the pad area of all the front pads, yet the ones for the rear, that do all match, he didnt mind showing.

they are right out from brand new calipers we ordered from dodge....really don't know there is any difference between them, took the picture that way just to show the clean backing on those pads, so you know they are NEW....

They probably sent new OEM pads from widely different manufacture dates. I think the Galfer number indicates the specific brake compound, so there is a definite mismatch there as well.

I agree w/ Dean...... (As Usual) Pulling to one side should be worth the $$ you saved? Probably would not make ANY difference.... on your father's Oldsmobile....

One set seems close to our 96 and the other set close to our 99 and 01 front pads.
My post last week on OEM pads taken off of our own Vipers:

Steve, thank you. the numbers matched perfectly. Looks like I have one set of each: And yes, the compounds DEFINETLY look different. So pulling is a likely candidate, especially when you see how they are different shapes.

1996 RT/10:
GALFER3214FF brembo
07.5146.12
----------------------------------------------------------------------
2001 GTS:
GALFER3321GF brembo
07.7235.10

I just scanned them, take a look !!:

Jon,

Sorry if the Thousands I have given you so far were not enough. Its $hit like this that really makes it hard for me to keep buying from you. You could have come in like a hero, added value and information to help me, A GOOD STANDING CUSTOMER OF YOURS, but instead, you come in like a zero and bust my balls.

Sorry if I saw what I thought was a good deal, and took it. Guess I shouldnt buy anything from anyone other then you?

Thx.

BTW, AS AN UPDATE, I DONT THINK VENUMBLUE TRIED to screw me. He received these pads new from dodge with some new calipers, but it looks like dodge sent him one caliper from the 2000+ and one from 1996 or so. It would have helped if he had noticed it first, instead of me, as it would have saved me the hassle of buying them, and of course taking off my rotors and pads (from the previous weekends VIR racing) and only finding out too late that the fronts were not an exact match. (rears are fine). Still stuck on this, I obviously cant use the fronts..

Why not just try and put one of each on both sides. Make sure you keep the matching ones on the inside and outside of each rotor, but it would be worth a try instead of wasting time and money. That way, no pulling as you would have at least the same amount of each compound on both sides and if one set wears quicker than the other than just replace the inner pads on both wheels or the outer when the warning indicators tell you to. Just my .02

Hey Nick,

Is that really what you want to do on a Viper? You Don't Think it might put off-set stresses on the caliper (inside to outside)? One side of the same caliper gripping more then the other? Why? To save a few bucks? I guess I shoulda bought a vette, if I wanted to save a few bucks ;-)

No, I really can't imagine that Pads from the same manufacturer made for the same Model vehicle would have that diverse of a pad material as to put undo stress on the caliper that would cause any damage. I understand that the Viper is a high dollar car and not everyone would want to do that, but with the way you jumped at JonB for scrutinizing your frugal ways, I really didn't think it would twist your ******* too much. ;-) j/k On a more serious note though, although it would require time and cooperation from VenomBlue what about just having him return them to Dodge, and get replacements. I am sure that if it was their mistake, they would be happy to cooperate.

That is what I would probably do.
