Has anyone bought a hoodpad from R&J? http://www.randjdistributing.com/ --click on Interior and then Hoodpads to see examples. I was going to paint mine, but after looking at it tonight, it has a bunch of stains and seems pretty brittle. How well do R&J's hold up to the engine heat (material wise and paint)? According to the website, they have a red sneaky pete hoodpad that is outlined in yellow available, but dont have a pic of it. Anyone know if these come with new hoodpad clips?

Good product just make sure you get the correct one! I ordered one, received it, put it on and it fit like crap. Called Ron and explained to him it does not fit right. Hell, I even e-mailed him pics. He swore up and down that I had the correct pad. I gave up because it was like beating a dead horse. I still have the hoodpad on my car, it still does not fit correctly BUT it is a nice product.
Haven't bought anything from him since.

R&J doesnt seem to have the best reputation around here (I recall other negative posts about them)...that scares me

You can do it on your own. It's not that hard. You'll be glad that you did.... just take your time on removing the clips. You can check my pics when I did mine.

Get yourself a stock one and paint it yourself and save a ton of money. Here is directions step by step on how to do it!
http://www.reefcorner.com/Viper/paint_liner.htm

I plan on doing this as soon as i get home. I'm doing mine in black and silver to match my car :)

Thats what I'm gonna do. I figure since stock pads are only around $100, I can screw up 1 or 2 and still come out cheaper than the R&J pad. Does anyone have any tricks to getting the hood clips out wihout destroying them?

I have the RJ pad, the fit and finish is excellent. I was very careful using a forked tool( designed to remove door panels ) and broke about half the clips. :curse:
Call the "Wizard" Chuck Tator, he stocks them, but even with his VCA discount they are pricey.

Love it. Glad to have it. I did not have the time or confidence to try doing it myself. too many other projects to work on.

The clips are the same ones as uder by Mopar for the past 30 years or more. They are exactly the same as my '72 Plymouth.

Go to your local auto body supply shop, and ask for the W & E catalogue or display board. I don;t have the part number, but they come in a box of 25 or 50. Once I get home I can get the part number....or I can get them for whoever needs 'em.
