I have the rare opportunity to upgrade my car (although the circumstances were less than ideal).

Which one do you like and why?

TNT Splitter:

Autoform Splitter:

Parts Rack Splitter:

Any other suggestions?

The partsrack splitter,
Mainly because it appears to be 1) looks easier to install/remove and probably faster as well and 2) because it looks like it makes the least amount of contact with your Vipers paint, therefore reducing the chance of scuffing the paint underneath over time.

I am looking into getting the Autoform splitter for my Gen I just because Gen I front ends are pretty blah. Seen the Autoform on Biff's car from V-Mania and I was hooked. What's the difference between the Autoform splitter and the TNT splitter?

I made my own splitter. I took some aircraft grade aluminum (3/8") and placed it on the floor under the car. I then traced out the front bumper on the aluminum, and measured back to the frame. From here I took the metal and had it laser cut to my specifications. It looks kinda like the plastic piece on the GTS's, but sticks out about 1" more. It protects the front bumper, acts kinda like a splitter, can be used as a tow point, and also is easily removeable. It is currently being powdercoated black. In case you are wondering it bolts to the front frame rails. Try making your own...mine cost me about $80

I saw a splitter at Watkins Glen which pivoted like a jawbone. If you scrapped a bump, the whole assembly would float over it with a negligible vertical scrapping force.

It looked like the TNT.

Of course, if you hit a discontinuity with a vertical surface, its curtains.

I liked the concept.

What about the "surf board" splitter Autoform makes? It is replaceable so the facia is retained. It sticks way out with the best of them but has a ground clearance of about 3.5" which is very, very nasty for street driving.

Have you seend Bernie Katz' "91" replica? That is a beautiful splitter. It's a Viper racing setup from one of the venues I don't remember.

Might be that the splitter should only be considered if you put a rear wing on.

I've heard the RT's rear gets light over 160 and you need a wing to plant it. (Friend of mine experienced this going 180 mph in the FL Turnpike.) Of course, that wing unloads the front, hence the need for the splitter.

Cosmetically I like the TNT best but the ParsRack is probably more functional if your going on a road course. Also if you can actually use it (you track the car) then it's not ricey.

Thanks for the opinions. When I was at the track, I felt the front actually lighten up a bit, or at least I thought I felt the front lighten up. I dunno, may have just been the burrito I ate before.

Anyway, it's functional and, I was thinking about a wing eventually so I might as well get the splitter. The splitter is a must for a wing whether at the track or on the road so I'll get that first.

TNT and Autoform seem to be the same in concept, except, from the picture, the Autoform splitter looks rounder at the edges.

I am not a big add-on fan, but the Parts rack splitter is my favorite. As Brendan mentioned a NC member has a Parts Rack splitter that has had additional modifications at it is really awesome.

It is wickedly adjustable and the vertical fins look like fangs - a very functional and asthetically pleasing (to most) addition.

Best of luck!

As the NC VCA member that Jeff and Brendan reference I thought I would post a picture of my modified Parts Rack splitter. It is fully adjustable so I can actually drive the car around and make it up my driveway without dragging. For track use you simply turn down the silver extenders. I had the Parts Rack unit modified to blend in more with the front facia. Auggie from Auggies Art (a local shop in Raleigh) actually extended the length of the unit. After he extended it he had to put a brace under the splitter to keep the tips from flexing/vibrating. If you look at the picture you will see a bolt on the top of each side of the splitter. These are the mounts for the bracing rods. I think it looks GREAT!
