Bill P. is the man!!!

He sent me a complete history of my Viper. Mail it to me that day, had it in 3. Makes the local dealers in my area look incompetent. He knew I wasn't going to buy anything, but still spent around 10 minutes on the phone with me explaining several areas of the Viper, that I was unaware of. He went above and beyond. Class act...

Keep assisting the Viper world, Bill P. We appreciate it!!!

question:
How does the factory rep know about the car? Was it a lemon? Who is the dealer so I can avoid them like the plague. This seems really wierd.

Clean car fax, Interesting.

If it was used in a move, maybe it was not fixed through insurance and thats why it did not show up in car fax.

How bad was the damage, are you noticing problems after buying the car?

Don't know exactly how bad the damage was. They said the deck lid had been repaired or replaced. This info has come to light in the process of trying to get my stress cracks on the hood of the car fixed on their dime. I have not noticed any problems with the back of the car. This is the beginning of them telling me to forget about them taking care of the stress cracks.

I just found out that my Viper had a considerable amount of bodywork done to it, sometime before I purchased it about one year ago. A Chrysler rep told me that it was used in a "Movie".
He said he'd investigate further, but I'd like to find out for myself also.

I would like to talk to the previous owners about the history of the car. If anybody has any ideas, I'd appreciate the help.

Thanks.

Surely.

Go to your local Dodge Dealer, and give them your VIN number. Tell them you would like a history on the vehicle. Now getting the prior owners name/phone number, may be a little more tricky. Use you imagination. They definitely have that information, but how you go about getting them to tell you is the key.

I sent an e-mail to Bill Pemberton to see if he could help. I would try the dealership I bought the car from, but they're not very helpful. Maybe they knew about this when they sold me the car?

Thanks for the help.

I've done history search on several collector cars I've owned.
You have a carfax, so you know which states it was registered in. Go to the library, phone book section and look up addresses for DMVs of the states it was registered in. Write the DMVs with the VIN number and include a check for $10 (there is usually a nominal charge). They will send you compete printout with copies of title applications, etc. Most states will show the name and address of the owner. One exception, I think is NY where it only shows the name of the lienholder not the owner.

Good luck.

Try Tom Burek @ Gregory Dodge in highland park A+ customer service. The only real concern you should have is getting her to run 130 in the 1/4.
