Just picked up a couple new style oil filters and was surprized by their weight. Are they pre-oiled some how or perhaps actually flow tested? They are packed in a plastic bag (with some oil residue) inside the box.

Thanks

I just went out and checked the ones I have on hand and they did have a little bit of oil on them but I would assume that is to keep the seals from drying out. Mine didn't seem to be any heavier than normal. Mine had caps on them though instead of being in a plastic bag.

Actually mine are in a plastic bag and also have the plastic cap on them. The outside looks perfectly clean, with some traces of clean oil. They seem to be heavier than normal, like they were partially filled with oil.

Thanks
John

Can anyone give me some details on the oil pressure at idle? I heard they help raise oil pressure due to their new design. I am wondering if its higher at IDLE or just at Top RPM?

Any insight would be greatly appeciated.

These filters were part of the goodie bag in Las Vegas for the Invitational, and Ron is correct.. First time I ever saw a filter wrapped in plastic before its installed.

Scientific Test No# 101

Took a new Viper Filter and ye olde Viper Filter and put them on the UPS scale. My left eyeball guesstimate ( I used the right eye closed method for pinpoint accuracy ) has the new filter at upwards of a quarter of a pound difference ---- heavier to be even more exact. Some were wrapped in plastic wrap, whereas others had a plastic lid seemingly taken right out of your local KFC fountain beverage counter for drinks on the go.

Final conclusion:
1. Yup bit heavier
2. Yup , it's better
3. We have had them for 6+ months and they now come in a MoPar box, which is a big improvement over the bland white container they first came in -----secret packaging we think.

This was developed from the World Challenge Series, and is actually a Wix filter designed to SRT specs and made in Poland. Whether this is a genuine Kosher Polish Fill, I do not know, but suggest you get one.:2tu:

Thanks Bill, was hoping you would ring in... You failed to mention the most important part, the Viper logo on the filter is worth an additional 7.26hp... LOL

Take care, have a great weekend..

Cool, I had been saving the one from our Goodie bag from VOI9. It was neat being that it was white and had Viper logo on it. When i tried 6 months back to get more, local Dodge dealers said they were on world wide back order. Guess ill go head and use it no, if i can get more.

I bought a case of them at VOI for something like three bucks a piece.

Yup, that's right!!!!

I did the same thing, although I didn't realize at the time they were the New "viper" filters.

The price was great even if the they were the original "1090" filters. I was really surprised when I looked at the part number and opened one up.
