Just a quick update...1k miles on mine now...and I LOVE THEM! A Gen 3 was behind me the other day and couldn't keep up with me in the turns...he mentioned "I was surprised to never see brake lights in some of those turns"...and yet it is comfotable enough for me to drive 2.5 hours to Houston and be just fine :)

I'll be interested to see how these hold up to people that track a good bit. I've got stock shock leaking a little, and these are a good price if they'll perform well and hold up at the track.

Good news! I was hoping someone would chime in with some reviews.

Unless I can find some used KW's in the 1500-2k range, I will be ordering a set of these for my Gen IV this month.

I don't plan to do much tracking, so as long as they are leak and bounciness free with lowered ride height and stock-like or better handling I will be happy.

I have good news for you then, everyone who has bought a set so far is happy with them, they are guaranteed against leaking and with us picking the proper spring rates for your driving vs one size fits all, you will be very happy.

Steve i went through 4 sets of ALDENS back in the day all with in a years time. They juct kept blowing on me so i ended up the throwing them away as i could not get my money back and got tired of tering my suspension apart every 3-4 months and sending them in for a rebuild over and over agaian. Mind you this was 5 years ago. Have these guys improved their product becasue back then it was garbage.

Anton,

I think there were a lot of issues years ago and the same issues exist with every shock that is designed to be used at a certain ride height and is then slammed a couple of inches below it's optimal setting then you will blow the seals of any shock , whether it be a Koni, pense or any other brand.

What happens is if you lower your car too much with coil-overs that are made for a higher ride height is that you take a shock that has a 4 inch stroke and at normal ride height the shock compresses an inch or 2, at this point the shock has 2 inches either way of travel, now if you were to use a stock size shock on a car you lower 1 or 2 inches , then you end up with a chock that has run out of travel and you will blow the seals as they are not made for that,

If you use a shock that has been built shorter so that when you put the car on the ground it is now already an inch lower than stock, it will still have the 2-3 inches each side of travel so the chance of you blowing your seals is greatly reduced.

In addition, most people if they run a lowered coil-over with a stock spring rate and they lower the car they will also have a problem, we supply high quality Eibach race springs that are in most cases almost double the stock spring rate, so a bump that would normally cause the suspension to compress 1 inch now only causes it to compress 1/2 inch which is what you need with a lowered car, most Moton/Penske/MCS coilover packages have high spring rates on them as well, 500/800 being a common set of spring rates

That makes sense. My car was def slammed but local guys that were running Motons and Penskes with the same ride height as me never had any issues. Are those brands just that much more superior in quality? Hows is this new set up compare to Moton or Penske set up for a 'lowered' application as far as quality, ride and longevity? I do like the shorty shock part of the set up. What is the money back refund policy like on these?

Thanks for all the info Steve! Using a shock made specifically for the lowered height seems like a definite improvement over the old Aldan setups.

I thought the initial issue with the adjustable Aldans was the seal around the rebound adjustment was blowing out and it was a design flaw, not a ride height issue. I'm too lazy to go try to find the threads again though so I could be remembering wrong.

Anton,

The reason people can splam the car on Motons or Penskes is that they have a gas charged extra canister that holds the gas and the oil, this allows for the coilover to still operate at the end of range better than a coilover without a canister, but this still does not increase the travel or stroke of the shock. I can tell you from personal experience that when a penske or moton runs out of travel the abrupt "kick" in the back as you go over a big bump can really unsettle you and your car.

"guys that were running Motons and Penskes with the same ride height as me never had any issues"

I know the local shop in the bay area that installs most of teh moton and Penske systems uses 500 or 600 lb front springs and 900 to 1100 rear springs. These other guys had their suspensions set up with spring rates that were 2 to 3 times the rate you most likely had,

I remember this being the case as well.

I figured I'd call and ask,

the issue was a groove that was too large in a clip ring on the bottom valve that when set to position 6 only, (full open) the pressure of the oil would blow the seal when a lowered car hit a *** hole or similar.

Long since corrected and redesigned 3-5 years ago.

If that's been fixed then you cant beat this product as far as $$$ is concerned. What is the money back policy on these?

Steve, is the install the same for these coilovers as it is for the OEM Konis? (preload suspension, then torque the mounting bolts on the shocks)

Thanks.

Yes, very straight forward, except you can adjust the height, do corner weighting to get your ride perfect and then as you go you can stop, turn a knob and adjust dampening and rebound to get everything just perfect for your driving style

Anton,

If you return them before using them then we can do a refund or an exchange.

Well thats obvoius LOL I mean what happens if one is to buy a set and they blow like the old ones did, over and over again. Never mind the 1500 dollar price tag but how about the hours needed/spent taking the coil-overs out of the car, sending them in for warranty, waiting a week or two to get them back, putting them in and having them blow yet again and being left with no other option besides sending the set back in for another warranty repair or throwing them and the 1500 dollars spent in the garbage. I'm not trying to be an ass here but i haven't seen any complaints about Penskies, KWs or Motons on any boards. Just Aldens. Plus my personal experince with them have been nothing but terrible. Are these new shorty shorty versions new to the scene? Has anyone here used them for some time without issues on their lowered car? 1500 vs 4k for Moton, KWs, Penskie is a huge difference but not when you waste the 1500 on a bad product vs putting it away and saving up another 2500 to get a set of coilovers that will last you. Steve do you have much personal experience with these?

Anything new to report on these? Are you still selling them Steve?

So far , nothing but good feedback from both Gen 2 and Gen 3/4 guys.

Here are some installed pics I just received yesterday, these are the lowered version of the coilovers

I have one set of SRT (Gen 3/4) in a box ready to ship if anyone is interested in installing a set this week!

Drove to Houston and back recently (around 450 miles round trip)...smooth on the long haul and handled great when I wanted to play on the turns. Still no issues...

I'll be buying a set for my Gen 4 at the end of January. I am installing new exhaust this week so decided to put off the suspension purchase for a month.

That yellow SRT looks like it is sitting perfectly. Steve, is that with the setting as low as it can go?
