A local dealer is advertising the new Viper for $500 over invoice. I don't know if I can say who it is so if you want to know PM me. Just heard it on the radio.

If you cannot say who, maybe you can say what trim level and how much?

It was a radio advertisement. They just said buy your new SRT Viper for $500 over invoice. They did not specify the trim level and I suppose you would have to order it because I do not think they stock them. They must be getting some good factory incentives which is not a good sign for a low production car.

More likely the result of your region approaching winter months, and the sales manager not wanting to sit on $100K worth of vehicles that aren't selling.

Maybe this will get more buyers into them, who knows. I'm still okay having paid MSRP for mine, as I've gotten to enjoy driving it for 6 months now. 6,700 miles so far.

I'll have to drive out and see if they have one in stock. Yea, crap... It's getting cold around here.

Still overpriced. They will be 10-15% below MSRP in a few months.

NO discounts will help if people are still not allowed to even sit in one. Maybe SRT can at least come up with a driving simulator at least?

You will be waiting a long time.

I know. Which is why I feel so bad that I might be purchasing my arch nemesis (C7) soon. We have never had another American brand in our garage for almost 5 decades. The thought of putting a GM product in there was repulsive until a few months ago. Again, I attribute this mainly to marketing (believe it or not) and partially to price and lack of engineering/tech advancement. SRT has destroyed the excitement of the Gen 5. What should have been the Viper that beat all Vipers has become a source of jokes and a case study in one of the worst product launches ever.

Now the V isn't refined enough

You all need to get your story straight why you think the car *****.

It's because it doesn't that they can't get their story straight. It does has its mishaps, but the car doesn't ****. I would think SRT would start doing some changes moving forward. If Ralph is half the business man this forum has given him credit for, his road trip promoting the Viper coming up will open his eyes and we'll see changes. Here's hoping.

I have already been offered (2) '13 GTS's not too far from here, both at 2K off invoice.

..... and then you have the local dealer here who wants 10K over sticker. LOL. :dunno:

Remember when the '09 ACRs were going for $20k below sticker right after the bankruptcy stuff got sorted out. That was kind of a shocker, just a couple of years before, the Gen IV ACRs were going for MSRP+. Too bad I didn't pick up an extra ACR when they were that cheap - I don't think there will ever be another one like it (but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that these pricing moves are setting the stage for a new package launch).

Ralph isn't, and never was a business man. He is a designer and an enthusiast. He's also a nice guy. That's why we all like him and root for him. But, he isn't a businessman. He's never started or run his own business (and I don't mean some little lemonade stand). He's always been an employee. He's never started a marketing company. He's never had to think way outside the box. Actually, as an employee, you are forced to think inside the box. So, don't hold your breath...you may turn blue (maybe the same blue as the new unnamed Viper blue).

For one thing, they teased us way toooo long...

Wow, I didn't think it has gotten this bad... I have been working on my Autoform AFR 'Cuda conversion this year (2012 Challenger SRT-8 converted into a Cuda tribute) and I have not paid that much attention to the Viper and all of what you have said. I certainly have missed a lot... I've read about some of the performance woes. Just too bad. The price point is also just too high IMO. I'm also partial to the roadster look of past Vipers myself.

What did Ralph design exactly? He seems like a hybrid: half MC and half ostrich and fully clueless. He should get walking papers long time ago, allowing someone competent to deal with the Viper. No doubt he will be spending even more time pointing fingers and blaming others for this failure.

Personally, I think I could turn the whole thing around... Really. I'm a combination of a professional business person, muscle car guy, non-traditional C.P.A., exotic car enthusiast, M.B.A., and free-spirited thinker... Mostly, I'm modest. Hire me, Chrysler!!! :D

I know for a fact that SRT has been presented with many solutions by very capable people and businesses. They have been categorically rejected because they are good, new, fresh ideas. Corporate America likes to stick to the same formula so no one can blame them for doing something "odd".

It seems that Jeep gets it...they've really turned the corner. Don't know how SRT completely missed the boat considering that they are all in the same building, just a hallway down from each other.
