DC just announced yesterday that they are coming out with a quad cab version of the Viper powered SRT-10 Ram. Now you can take more passengers on a fast ride. However, you still can't tow anything with it though . . .

Seeing MoparMan's mention of 7500 lbs towing capacity made me go to the Dodge site and look it up.

According to the Dodge site, there is no GCWR (gross combined vehicle wieght) specification available, and the paymoad can only be 900 lbs.

By that account, I'd say the SRT cannot be used for trailering....and certainly not for 7500 pounds.

New 2005 Dodge Ram SRT-10 Quad Cab

If a Dodge Ram pickup — complete with 500 horsepower courtesy of the Dodge Viper SRT-10 engine — is good, a Viper-powered Ram with four doors is even better.

Following on the success of the Dodge Ram SRT-10 regular cab pickup, Dodge introduces the Ram SRT-10 Quad Cab, targeted directly at the truck enthusiast who wants SRT performance in a pickup with room for the family and towing capacity.

"We knew when we came out with the world's fastest production pickup that there would be customers who would want that same ultimate performance, but in a pickup that offered four-passenger seating and towing capability," said Dan Knott, Director — Street and Racing Technology (SRT). "So, the question was, 'Can we create a more usable truck for the person who wants to haul more stuff, but is not willing to give up performance?' Our answer is the Dodge Ram SRT-10 Quad Cab: a truck that is just as bad and bold in terms of performance, but a little more capable and versatile in terms of hauling."

Beginning with a Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab as a starting point, SRT engineers worked their magic with the kind of goodies that have enthralled Dodge Ram SRT-10 owners from day one: Viper V-10 power, a performance suspension, world-class brakes, bold performance styling and a race-inspired interior.

The only logical choice to power the world's ultimate performance four-door pickup: the 8.3-liter Dodge Viper V-10 engine, unleashing 500 horsepower and 525 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine is backed up by a four-speed automatic transmission — a 48RE gearbox, specially adapted from a diesel engine application for its ability to handle monster amounts of torque. A heavy-duty torque converter, custom transmission calibration and two-piece drive shaft were also specifically chosen for overall powertrain integrity and performance. Additionally, the Dodge Ram SRT-10 Quad Cab was fitted with a 4.56 gear ratio to improve launch feel, low-end acceleration and towing capability of up to 7,500 pounds.

While brute power and straight-line performance are high on the list of any performance enthusiast, every SRT vehicle must also perform throughout a dynamic range — from neighborhood grocery runs to blasts through twisting and winding roads.

To give the Dodge Ram SRT-10 Quad Cab the right balance and poise through a wide variety of driving scenarios, SRT engineers began with a fully hydroformed frame as the basis for strength and rigidity. From there, the Ram SRT-10 Quad Cab was fitted with fully-tuned front and rear strut and spring assemblies. Up front, modified steering and independent front suspension carry the load, while in the rear, axle snubbers, performance-tuned springs and Bilstein monotube shocks keep things firmly planted through the corners.

Dodge Ram SRT-10 Quad Cab's braking system was designed by SRT engineers, utilizing heavy-duty Dodge Ram components and unique four-*** opposed-piston calipers that are new for 2005. A three channel anti-lock braking system (ABS) actuates new custom red brake calipers up front that grip 15-inch rotors, and in the rear, modified heavy-duty red calipers grip 14-inch rotors. Front brakes are cooled with air ducted from the front fascia to reduce heat build-up.

Featuring cues reminiscent of Dodge's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Ram — such as the deep front fascia equipped with a wind splitter, signature cross-hair grille and sculpted sides — the Dodge Ram SRT-10 Quad Cab features a unique hood with a fully functional air intake that provides added bay cooling. A body-color aluminum tonneau cover, outfitted with a unique spoiler for aerodynamic balance, is standard.

Performance cues inside the Dodge Ram SRT-10 Quad Cab include the Viper-like pushbutton starter, race-inspired, grippy and heavily bolstered seats, a leather-wrapped carbon fiber-patterned steering wheel and brushed metal accents on the instrument panel and door trim panels.

I was told by the local Dodge dealer that they would not put a trailer hitch on a SRT-10 Ram and that DC recommended no towing with the vehicle. The explaination was that the suspension needed to control the high hp/torque engine made towing unsafe.

It would be fun to see how the Quad-Cab SRT-Ram stands up against the $90K Cayenne Turbo S.
I know that the SRT-Ram is not AWD, but most owners of the Cayenne Turbo S won't ever use it off road anyway.

Matt M - that comment was only about the new quad cab SRT-10 w/the automatic, not the regular cab SRT-10.

Yehawwwwww! :) Sign me up! I feel a little bad for the tricked out Hemi Ram Quadcab that's sitting in my garage right now, but I'll do my best to find her a good new home when the time comes!

I guess I can talk now. A considerable number of us Viper owners have been hammering away at Dodge ever since the first announcement of the SRT Truck, to make it into a workhorse. Something that could haul the family, tow our cars, work during the week, and still kick a** of any other truck (and most cars) on the road. They heard us, and it delivers everything asked for and promised. Thanks.

I know there are people out there who love their GM and Ford fun vehicles..... and I doubt many would ever change their preferences easily. But.... ya see...... there is just one pure fact about "Chrysler Corporation" that NEVER happens with any other "American" car company. Whenever CC has promised us Mopar guys a special vehicle, all the way back to the 426 Hemi days, they have ALWAYS delivered...... in FULL! I love that. Whenever Ford or GM have tooted their horns, the finished product ALWAYS turns out to be LESS than than the promoted "full loaf". It's always something! Either less power, more weight, more tame looks and engineering, or more money. The Ford GT is a perfect example. Just go back and look at the original promised weight and price.

My thanks to the the guys at the factory, whether American, German, or any other race, for continuing to deliver exactly as promised. This kind of character seems to have become the corporate culture over the years, and we, as their customers, are the lucky beneficiaries.

Hmmm. Silver? Red? Mamba White? Dare I say Viper Yellow?

My talks with the head of the SRT-10 Ram program and this announcement of the '05 SRT-10 both say that your dealer was wrong about the reason for "towing not recommended" being on the '04 6 speeds.

Well, that dealer being wrong cost him a sale! Too late now. Seems that Dodge should inform their dealers better.

They were right about the towing not being recommended. Just not the reason. There was no need to do all of the required hours of testing on a standard version (clutch=weak link) when they knew an automatic was on the way.

How can DC announce another model for the Ram SRT-10 line, when they can't even fill their sold orders they have in the system now?! Up here in the Northeast the Ram SRT-10 is one of the hardest vehicles to get! DC is telling me that it may take TWO YEARS to fill all of my 04 orders! Don't hold your breath on getting one!!

"HEY DC how about filling your SOLD ORDERS before sending Ram SRT-10's to Dealers just for stock?"

Oh please...........someone put a damn hitch on that thing and lets get on with life!
IT'S A TRUCK!!
People put hitches on their Vipers!
If I had the desposable cash, I would buy one and put a hitch on it and pull my 25ft Haulmark. Piece of cake.

Now lets hear about all the warranty issues my comment made

Viper Wizard....that makes no sense...I was at Bill Luke Dodge in Phoenix and they have a black SRT truck sitting on the lot for sale. A couple of weeks ago when I was there, I could have bought a red one.

There's usually 15 to 20 for sale on any given day on Ebay. Many are new, so they don't seem hard to find if you really want one. :usa:

You are a wise man. It has been done already and works fine.
