Hi, Of course I have to reply to this post as many of you know that I rent my Viper as well (
www.cloud9cars.com). Here are some of the things to consider. I don't know how many years you have been doing this but here goes:
1) If your state requires a front license plate, put it on. I have a post for a plate holder about 10 days old that you can make for under $ 10. YOU will get the ticket if the renter is pulled over for no plate.
2) I would think you have had all of your paperwork looked at by a lawyer and checked out o.k. If you had a decent lawyer, at least you will have a clause that indicates if you are ever sued, the renter will pay all of the legal costs. If you don't have a simple thing such as this anywhere in your paperwork, RUN to another lawyer, don't walk.
3) Have you been able to lock down your hood? You'll be surprised how many people want to open the hood (and god forbid start exchanging nice 5,000 miles parts for your 75k mile ones) Really think about it when you decide to rent to another VIper owner.
4) Obviously you should have a clause in your paperwork that does not let the renter go to the track. We rely on the renter's insurance, this would void their insurance coverage and make you pay for any/all damages. Even a 10k deposit is not enough here.
I think you get the picture, our rates are $ 399.95 for a 24 hour rental on the weekend and $ 799.95 for an entire weekend. You may not be too far off with the COL there. A lot of people have contacted me about runnig this business from the home (I do this full time)and I'm offering a franchise pkg. that pays for itself just by not having to pay people to develop the paperwork, logo's, etc. Good luck!
