Wow, cool color combination!

I can't think of any quirks other than making sure you or your renters have a LOT of insurance. I can't imagine it will stay perfect for long with an inexperienced driver. I am curious about the "chip" - do you mean the performance computer from Mopar? There is no chip that I am aware of for the Viper.

Great car, and I would LOVE to see more pictures!

As an RT/10 owner familiar with the subtleties of both the hard and soft tops my advice would be to sell both tops and include umbrellas and a cockpit cover with the rental.
Joking aside.....both tops really take two EXPERIENCED people to install. If it starts to rain, by the time you get the soft top out of the trunk, unfold and install it, YOU'RE SOAKED!
Besides a little rain adds to the roadster experience!

Unfortunately Donnie, the stock soft-top is the ONLY soft-top. My suggestion is you give them a true demo, and insist that they at least install, and remove it once before they take the car. Make sure there's a nice blanket or towel in the car, because I'm quite sure, without the "risk of ownership" more than likely they'll just throw it on the dirty rough ground, and manhandle the build. At least with the towel, you can offer them a clean dry soft surface to place the top on.

Hi, Of course I have to reply to this post as many of you know that I rent my Viper as well (www.cloud9cars.com). Here are some of the things to consider. I don't know how many years you have been doing this but here goes:

1) If your state requires a front license plate, put it on. I have a post for a plate holder about 10 days old that you can make for under $ 10. YOU will get the ticket if the renter is pulled over for no plate.
2) I would think you have had all of your paperwork looked at by a lawyer and checked out o.k. If you had a decent lawyer, at least you will have a clause that indicates if you are ever sued, the renter will pay all of the legal costs. If you don't have a simple thing such as this anywhere in your paperwork, RUN to another lawyer, don't walk.
3) Have you been able to lock down your hood? You'll be surprised how many people want to open the hood (and god forbid start exchanging nice 5,000 miles parts for your 75k mile ones) Really think about it when you decide to rent to another VIper owner.
4) Obviously you should have a clause in your paperwork that does not let the renter go to the track. We rely on the renter's insurance, this would void their insurance coverage and make you pay for any/all damages. Even a 10k deposit is not enough here.

I think you get the picture, our rates are $ 399.95 for a 24 hour rental on the weekend and $ 799.95 for an entire weekend. You may not be too far off with the COL there. A lot of people have contacted me about runnig this business from the home (I do this full time)and I'm offering a franchise pkg. that pays for itself just by not having to pay people to develop the paperwork, logo's, etc. Good luck!

When I got into the business I thought Viper owners would want to rent the car, maybe to give it to their friends and tool around. I've had more than 10 Viper owners, without asking them first, telling me never to rent to them as they would tear the *hit out of the car (I know someone who's on their 5th tranny). So, although it originally wasn't thought up me, I've come to the realization that viper owners know how to drive the car to the extreme because they have time behind the wheel. In this business, people who do not have time behind the wheel actually tend to be more cautious with the car. So that is why the statement was made. Sorry you were so offended, but realize this is a business and we are renting a $ 60,000 car. You have to be cautious.
