To some of you that have been constantly on top of updates of a new viper for 2008, I was on wikipedia's website and read this.

"After the introduction of the Chevrolet Corvette Z06, the Viper's position as the top American supercar under $100,000 began to fade. However, rumors and pieces of information exist that suggest that the next generation Viper, codenamed "ZC",which is thought to also be a supercar will be introduced in the 2008 or 2009 model year and will have an 8.4 L engine with VVT producing 700 hp.

As of June, 2006, inside information suggests that there will be no 2007 model year for the Viper. Instead, the 2008 Viper will possess the new 8.4L engine but will ride on the current generation platform (ZB). 2009 model year will then see the Viper move to its redesigned platform. The 2008 Viper is expected to begin production in January, 2007, according to multiple insiders."

600-650 HP at most I would think, and the higher number is less likely.

700 hp, it's getting better everyday:)

510hp is already a hand full. I be happy with just beating out the FGT.

Supposedly, the new engine had dyno'ed at 700HP at one point. I think that's where the 700HP rumor is coming from. From what I've picked up, I wouldn't expect any more power than 650HP.

I would be very surprised if we did see a stock 650hp Viper. I think it would send a shock through the sports car world and a frenzy to buy them up, much to the first Vipers.

for liability reasons and bragging rights, i think DC will give the viper enough HP to top the vette, but not much more. huge HP decisions will be left to the viper owners as it has been in the past.

Let's not forget the 650+ hp bluedevil/stingray/ss corvette is coming out and is rumored to weigh even less than the current Z06. If Dodge has any insight they will make a car = or > this car. Otherwise the viper will still be second on the performance charts
