Ok, here is my first post! I'm a life long mopar fan, the next mopar i buy will be # 93 for me. In all the mopars I've owned, never had a v-10. Owned quite a few hemis, 440-6's, even a wing car, but never a snake. I currently own a 70 hemicuda (orig 383-4 speed car) with a tremec 5 speed and a 4.10 dana rear. I'm considering a move to a Viper GTS (gotta be blue with white stripes). I'd like a little input of what to look for. I'd take a partial trade on my Cuda for a GTS or the right open top viper. My Cuda is worth an easy 90K, not a thrown together car, but built RIGHT. http://www.cuda-challenger.com/cc/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=21017.0;attach=42217;image

sell the cuda and jump in the game

im a HUGE mopar fan but there is NO e-body that will come close to giving you as much fun as a viper will. its also gonna suprise you how many looks it gets over the e-bodies.

im only up to about 45 mopars though.

but obviously if ya can swing the viper without selling it, go for it. i sold my last old mopar to get this viper and never looked back. prolly wont get another old one ever. been there, done that.

I've had two Superbirds, and a Road Runner convertible. While they were great...they just aren't Vipers.

I would not talk anyone into keeping an older Mopar now if you are thinking of selling. I can;t imagine the market getting any better than it is now to sell. And...there's going to be a major correction in values. The whole Barret-Jackson thing has made Mopars and their parts so crazy high in price...that IMO...selling now would be money in the bank.

I tend to agree with Matt. If MOPARS were stock, I'd sell now before any correction. Maybe it won't happen, but there's a good chance of it nonetheless.

Hemi70, go check out my GTS at my website. You won't find a nicer sapphire blue car. You can check it out on my website, www.mohotcars.com

You can go directly to the higher resolution pictures using www.mohotcars.com/gts.html

good lord i hope you are right.

i have always wanted a wing car as far back as i can remember. i FINALLY got myself into a nice financial position in life, and now there is NO WAY i could even afford a "rust-bucket" wing car. :evilmad:

Had another thought about the whole musclecar thing.

By and large, the folks that are interested in these carsa a baby boomers. As they get a bit older..they're not going to care anymore. The younger generation is much more interested in the rice cars..and could care less about musclecars.

We also have to remember that cars are getting more performance every year. There wasn't a musclecar built that offers the performance of a Viper. Years ago, the only way to get performance was with an older musclecar.

Look at the way the old car market has changed since the 1980s. Model A's were everywhere and a nice roadster would have fetched over $30,000. Now that the folks that like them are older...they can't bring half that much. EVen million dollar Ferraris and Duesies are not commanding half their once believed value.

Matt, I have to agree with you that as with all older cars, there will come a time when the market for them will begin to decline as the people who consider them the cars of their youth begin to retire and have less disposable income. The big factor with the 60-70's muscle cars is that the period of time following them is basicly a wasteland for performance cars. The mid-late 70's and early-mid 80's were probably the worst time for performance cars ever. So considering that, the muscle cars will have an extended audience. The Viper will always have an appeal to a wide variety of people due to the awsome performance and looks of the cars. This is not an easy decision for me, a 70 hemicuda has always been my "ultimate" Mopar, but the appeal of the GTS/Viper has always been there for me. I guess now that I've attained the hemicuda I've always wanted, it's sort of a "OK, what do i do now? " feeling!

if I still had the cars in my signature I could retire however there are no regrets. Learning what makes the Viper tick has been more fun than any experience with the old iron.
The best part...Viper fit and finish is excellent compared to the 60/70s muscle cars and rust will never be a issue.

Keep the cuda, get the viper.
Maybe the Cuda has peaked, BUT you will probably never find another one.

Yes, the Viper does many things better.....but can't replace the vintage iron.

Also, I think the craze of rebuilding the modern ponycars will keep the fire lit for a while longer.
