Newport Mansion Cruise
Sunday, May 23rd
We will meet at the Bridgewater service rest area, which is on 24 South and it junctions 495. It is an easy place to meet no matter which way you are coming. Anyone coming from RI, we can pick you up on the way if you would like. Contact me and I’ll make an additional pickup place. We will meet for 10:00 and leave at 10:30; it will be a tight schedule so we need to leave on time. We will drive through the old historic town of Newport, which still has the coble stone street. We will take a drive down Ocean Drive which will be awesome. We will also stop for a photo shoot with the Newport Bridge in the back ground. The Newport Preservation Society wouldn’t let us take a picture in front of the Rosecliff mansion. I even tried to make a donation, no deal. We will then end up on Bellevue Avenue and arrive at the Marble house. You can go to their web site www.NewportMansions.org . This mansion cost 11 million dollars back in 1892, that figure is huge even in today’s standards. This mansion also does audio tours. The cost will be $12.00 per person. If we get 20 people to sign up, the group rate will be only $9.00 per person. That is what I shooting for. Anyone not interested in doing the Mansion tour, you can leave your Viper in the parking lot, and walk to the cliff walk which is right around the corner. We should arrive around 12:00 and will be there for 1 hour.
At 1:00 we will then leave for lunch to the Atlantic Beach Club, which is also in Newport and is right on the ocean. You can also checkout their web site www.atlanticbeachclub.com . The restaurant will have a section of their parking lot roped off for us. This should be a great event and hope all of you can make it.
