I JUST READ A HORRIBLE STORY ABOUT A N20 BOTTLE OVERHEATING AND BLOWING UP IN THIS GUYS MAXIMA. IT WOULD HAVE KILLED HIM FOR SURE. THEY SAY THE SAFETY VALVE WAS TO SMALL TO ACCOMODATE THE PRESSURE BUILD UP. THEY ALSO SAID THAT THIS PROBLEM WAS FROM A NITROUS EXPRESS KIT. ALSO, THIS SAME TYPE OF FAULTY VALVE COULD BE ON MANY SYSTEMS NOW AND THE PUBLIC DOESNT KNOW IT. THE COMPANY WONT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. THEY ARE DENYING THE FACT.

SHOULD WE BE WORRIED? DOES THIS HAPPEN FREQUENTLY? DOES INSURACE COVER THIS TYPE OF DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE?

That happened about 3 years ago. Compressed gas like NO2, Propane, even a SCUBA tank can pose a danger. If it is compressed it can explode!

I hadn't heard the part about the bottle heater. Was that confirmed? If so, and he did the work, bonehead's too kind a word.

From what I recall the owner had plugged the blow off valve (for what ever reason) probably didn't know what it was. Then left the bottle heater on with no automatic shutoff. I seen the car, it looked like a bomb went off inside it.

Ben,
Check out this page where he admits to miswiring the bottle heater as well as leaving it on unattended and not having the valve open with the heater on....
