Anyone ever have a problem with backup lights not working?
I just noticed it today and was wondering where to start.

Check fuse...then consider possible problem with the backup light switch on the right side of tranny...easy to change yourself, if that is the problem.

I was going to check my fuse, but where is the fuse box for the back up lights? If it is the switch, where do i find that?

I think I have the same problem, my fuses are all good. The fuse panel that the backup lights are on is underneath the dash on the drivers side, right where the door closes. If memory serves me correctly it is #8 and is a 10 amp fuse, but check the owners manual to be sure.
Thanks for the link Tom, I will look into that.

Hey Tom.....does the "Switch, Back-up lamp" doo-dad come right out? Do we need to worry about any fluid (besides the cold beer in the cup-holder on the creeper)???

The switch is cake to replace. Mine went out as well.

1. Give JonB a call. He'll get you the switch for $25.
2. Jack up the car and remove the big plate under the tranny. It has 10 or 12 bolts in it. You can do it without removing the plate, but access is much easier with it out of the way.
3. On the passenger side of the tranny, you'll see the switch bolted in. I think it's a 21 or 22 mm. No fluid to worry about. Take out the old one, put in the new. You're done!

This is a less-than-an-hour job, including jacking time.

Good luck!

old post but I just had the same issue Today with my backup switch and looking at the way the switch work, the issue is a bad/dirty contact ( no doubt due to the low mileage that vipers are driven) and it only need some "exercise" and contact cleaner/WD/etc to clean the contact and make it work.
Basically you have to push back the ball bearing and spray some cleaner or WD40 in the gap between the switch body and the ball bearing and "exercise" the switch by pressing and releasing the ball bearing 10 or 20 times.
My switch now work as well than a new one and best part, the fix is very cheap
