Wow! My comparable stock 2001 RT/10 just increased its HP from 450 to 500 and it's 2001 stock price new went from $70k to $80k... <sarcasm>
Either this Viper owner mistakenly thinks his 2001 GTS is 500HP or the journalist probably looked up the current specs for the Viper (SRT/10) and used the 500HP spec (as opposed to the correct 450HP spec for the 2001). That along with using the base price of a 2003 SRT/10 - $80k instead of a 2001 GTS.

Glenn's GTS is not stock. Note the side-pipes for starters. I'd say with mods, he's probably spent at least $80k.
My '97 GTS is also pulling ~500HP at the crank.
