OBD2 question

Hi guys, I need a little insight here.

I have purchased two different Bluetooth OBD2 dongles to work with a tablet for running programs like torque. The problem I am having is both dongles are not powering on. I tried both dongles in different vehicles and they work fine. Is there something special about a gen III computer that I don't know about. I figured a gen IV might cause some issues but not a gen III. Also, the car is a Paxton car. Does that have something to do with it? Any insight here would be helpful. I'm tired of trial and error here. I want to get my tablet retrofit project going, but not until I get all the programming figured out first.

As a Paxton car, is the engine management a piggyback of the stock system or is it AEM?

As far as I know the engine management is whatever comes with the Paxton kit. I have a SCT tuner waiting for a tune down the road, but she runs good for the time being.

Pin 16 of the DLC is supposed to have battery power. That is what powers up the scan tool or programmer or whatever.
Pin 4 is ground.
It's common to have a blown fuse causing no power at pin 16,........... check for that.

Your the man! It was a blown fuse. All is well in the world now. Time to continue with the tablet install.

Way cool!.....
The DLC fuse is usually common to the cigarette lighter / 12v aux power circuit.
(most vehicles)

Fuse blows when a cell phone charger, or other accessory has a short in the cord, or draws too much current.

I have also seen coins or other junk in the cig lighter hole.

I did get the torque program up and running but I still need to work some stuff out. For some reason it asks me for the Bluetooth password every time I connect to the obd2 dongle. As for the program itself, its pretty cool. You can customize a lot of stuff. One thing I have noticed is it lags a little but nothing horrible. My favorite gauge right now is the GPS speedometer. I have a large digital number displayed and its way easier to use than the dash.

I will hopefully have this all done within a couple months. Its my project to work on when I have time, but I work full time and am taking two classes right now so time is yard to come by these days.

I'm still working on that. I have a couple options to go with but I'm not going to worry about mounting until I get all the bugs worked out first.

I'm using a 32gb Asus nexus 7.
