Okay I will bite the bullet and say it - I wish i had a bigger gas tank. I understand not all Vipers can get the miles/gallon as the 2008/2009 (cannot speak to the 10's due to their gears) but with the gear change on the Gen V and with such a small (16 gallon) gas tank it literally means a trip or two from outside Austin to the city necessitates a refuel to do it all over again. The mileage and range is quite similar to Generation 3 with 355's or 333's. Moving from that to a Gen IV i felt i could go forever - a freedom i miss in our new Gen IV. Now I am back to constantly visiting the gas station. If they at least put a bigger tank i would be in better shape ... 225 miles per tank means a lot of my time stopping to refuel and making it something i always have to check to a point that somewhat interferes with the enjoyment of the otherwise completely insane and beautiful ride. A ~300 mile range would have been more to my liking.

Around town I agree it feels like you are there 3x a week. Highway, honestly I am impressed with, seeing 21mpg.

But hell, what do you expect LOL

right. and i'm over 400 miles now and have done a lot more highway and hafta agree...I love cruising 70 "ish" in 5th...middle lane....long curvy hood in front....exhaust music on each side...both windows down....duckin slightly below the rook overhang...both hands on the steering wheel....oh man, I need to go drive that thing.....right now.

On my long road trips, the 240-250 mile range was just about perfect in one sitting. It is good to get out and stretch every 3 or so hours, after driving this car. Just a word of advice, never let the car get below 1/4 tank. The gauge moves down a lot quicker below that range, for whatever reason. You'll think you have plenty of fuel, then 20 miles later the low fuel light might come on. It drops off very fast below the 1/4-mark.

Interesting note, Gen I/II have 19 gallon tank. Gen III/IV/V have 16. That was always a concern when I had my 2008. Maybe carry a gallon with you in the trunk, just in case..........................

I advise against keeping a gas container INSIDE the cabin for safety reasons...leakage, rupture in accident or becoming airborne inside the cabin from deceleration.

Instead install a hitch and a small trailer behind your Viper so you can trailer your extra needed gas cans behind your Viper. ( like the prowler extra trunk trailers)

OR if you can afford a gen 5, then pay some one to follow you everywhere with extra gas cans inside THEIR car...

Or just call roadside assist every time you run out of gas

OR make believe you e Viper is an electric car with limited range

OR just sell your Viper and get a car that has better gas mileage, a larger fuel tank and that still has similar performance..... the new C7 Corvette.

Interesting, I've not had this as a complaint per se on my other vipers, of course spirited driving chugs it & it's hard to not drive in a spirited manner. For my GT500, on top gear they referred to its fuel tank as a fuel thimble, & they're right. Although on one long drive I managed in the 24mpg range, in nomal driving, 220mis is the miles to empty when full. At least I do own a gas sipper, but neither of the cars in the garage spaces are. lol

Keeping the fuel tank inside makes the viper more likely to burst into flames just like a ferrari, so why not do the $5 "ferrari mod" and make the viper more ferrari-ish?

Oh yah !! I was asleep at the wheel and was not thinking..... snoozed on that idea.....

And then everyone would KNOW, undisputed, that the SRT VIPER is a true EXOTIC car, since we all know that ONLY exotic cars catch fire.... CarBBQ style
