My viper gets about 3k miles a year put on it and probably 4 oil changes for the same period. This has been going on since it was new, and I am seriously starting to wonder why.
Tom made a very informative post a while back stating the oil shelf life is about 5 years, and if that is the case why are we told to change our oil every 3k miles or 3 months? Besides the obvious profit for the oil/filter manufacturers.
Does oil out of the bottle(inside crankcase) break down much quicker? Or what?
