My 97 gts has been sitting in the garsge since Thanksgiving day. Today I walked by it and saw some oil on the ground. I haven't gone under it yet to have a look. What are the common places these cars leak? seems to be a good amount of oil on the ground :dunno:

I have a gen 2 (2002 rt-10). a KNOWN problem with the gen 2 vipers is the oil pan gasket leaking/failing. this is an easy fix if this is the case. this happened to me. another problem can be the rear main seal leaking motor oil ( the gasket between the engine block and the transmission). this happened to me also. if it is motor oil you are leaking, I'm sure it is one or the other (assuming the drain plug is not loose and the engine is clean higher up).

I do NOT agree that this is a "known" problem or a common problem.

I do agree that if you DO have a problem, the fix is simple enough.

ADDITIONALLY: The oil on the floor could be CLUTCH FLUID. As has been asked WHERE is the leak? Fingertip oil type?

The oil dosn't look that dirty (finger tip) not red might be on the clear side. My garage floor has a slight pitch so the water will run out. and thats the direction of the oil directly in the center of the car. I dont feel like crawling on the floor, So I guess I will wait untill I can get it on a lift. My guess is the oil pan gasket or drain plug. Since the car was sitting while it leaked. My guess would be if it were running than we can say valve cover gasket or rear main seal?

This has to the most stupid post this year.
"My car is leaking, I don't know what or where from, is it a problem?"....

Should we all consult with our crystal balls to give you the answers you seek..?

Yes, Please look into your crystal ball and ask it when you became an *******.
All I asked is where are the common areas to look out for. Or better yet, maybe you can ask your crystal ball for reading lessons.:2tu:

The oil pan gasket on 2001/2002 seems to be a problem.
The sealing around the main shaft, end of engine facing tranny sometimes also.
