Three quickies for you:

1. My Viper chose to trap me for the second time since I bought it new in '99. I parked at the Amoco (see #2) and I couldn't get out - the doors wouldn't release. I used the "emergency" pull and was fine, but the electronic pull was "dead". Got back in the car just fine (left the windows open just in case) and was fine the rest of the time. It happened one other time, which was about two weeks after I brought it home from Detroit (factory pick up). Never had it happen again until today. I know others have had a similar occurance. Anybody ever figure this one out?

2. Went to Amoco (several) to buy up the last of the Racing Champions Amoco Viper GTS' for my fellow VCA members that missed them. The promotion technically ended May 31st and many stores never got them to begin with (about half that I checked with). The local KC folks have first dibs on the ones I bought, but if anybody else would like one at cost ($2.12 each, including the Kansas sales tax I paid) plus postage, LMK and I will set aside those that the KC folks don't buy. If you are wondering what they look like, they are 1:64 scale (Matchbox size) and here is one I opened up:

The ones I have are in the original box. Look on eBay and you will find a few (very few) selling for $4 plus another $4 postage. They usually have a picture of the boxed version as well. Funny side story: One Amoco I went to never got them and the lady owner said she would love to even see one in person. She got a 2-for-1 - she got to sit in my GTS and I gave her one of the Amoco Vipers I had already bought. She was thrilled!

3. Picked up my new plates for the Durango today:

Nobody understood "NEDAV10" besides a few Mopar guys. Sigh... Here is my cute little couple:

Hope everyone else is having a wonderful day (or night)!

Bill -

Thanks for the thought! I hope it wasn't from me sitting on that door when I was admiring Ryan's car in the garage that day. I am still amazed those Hoosiers could fit on a Ford Probe.

All my very best,

Chris

Oh Chris, is that a tow hitch I spot on your coupe? I'm in the process of welding up my own to fit (...I have tail pipes). Chrysler UK promised me their hitch, from after the world record breaking caravan tow, but then lost it moving HQ!? I was planning on bolting through the 2 chassis rail tail ends (with reinforcements so as not to crumple the chassis rails). Where did you get yours, does it just bolt up to each chassis rail, and that's it? Look forwards to hearing from you. The torque of a V10 could pull a house down, but, I was just planning a treat for my pet horse, he's never been more than a 100mph in his trailer box before!

Egad no! That is the trailer hitch on my Durango (plug by MGW). You might try to track down Ron from Wyoming, as he has a hitch on his RT/10 that is REALLY a nice set up. I can try to find some pictures of it if you are interested. I am afraid I just can't do that to my car. Heck, I have had heavy-duty tow packages on every SUV I have owned since 1985 - and never towed a thing with any of them. Sigh...

Chris, PS. How could I have mistaken the rear of a SUV for a coupe?? Please excuse me, I've had a few pints and was browsing very quickly, it was wishful thinking that another coupe may have a tow hitch I guess!

Nadine, I believe that Roy Sjoberg (Father Viper) came up with a trailer that looks like the front and back of a GenI Viper and he also has a tow rig for it. Can anybody help on this, I don't know how to reach him or the company that markets the trailer. I think it was on the Viper site before. I saw his hitch on his car up in Traverse City Michigan 2 years ago, and it did not look bad at all. It fits the Viper fairly well, but like Chris, I would never even think about a hitch on our '94.

I would love to see or hear of a Viper trailer. I had thought
of acquiring a wrecked rear end and making a matching GTS trailer. Has anyone done that?

Chris,

My '00 GTS does the same thing. It's happened to me 3 times total. A week after I bought it, during the summer (3 months after I bought it) and about a week and a half ago. Can't nail down what is going on but it seems to be related to heat (happened on hot days) and length of time in storage between drives. During the time it sits, it's always hooked up to a battery tender. I can usually get it operational again if I use the hidden switch to shut off the alarm and then resynch the remote. The third time it happened, resynching didn't work. I let the car cool down and all was okay.

Chris,
I had it happen to me once, and I realized that the door had not been closing easily for awhile. I knew it was out of adjustment, just hadn't had time to get it done. Door essentially was jammed and motor wouldn't override. Had door adjusted and no problems since. Probably not your situation, but thought I would share my experience.
