Dear Viper Club Members !

The Ontario and Quebec clubs would like to invite you in Ottawa, CANADA on June 1st 2nd and 3rd. We are organizing a fantastic week-end in Ottawa. We managed to rent for the entire week-end the new Calabogie Race track which was built in 2006. On Saturday and on Sunday we will have a supervised lapping on the track. We are also organizing many other activities around this track event: dinners, wine tasting, tourist visits so on.

Highlights of this week-end are:

[*] Friday June 1st from 10AM to 4PM: Visit of Chateau Montebello and National Park Omega
[*] Friday June 1st from 6PM to 10PM: Wine tasting at Hotel Brookstreet then dinner
[*] Saturday June 2nd from 9AM to 5PM : Track day for guys
[*] Saturday June 2nd from 10AM to 4PM: Visit of Ottawa for Ladies
[*] Saturday June 2nd from 7PM to 10PM: Gala dinner at Hotel Brookstreet
[*] Sunday June 3rd from 9AM to 5PM: Track day for everybody and BBQ in the pits.
Compared to other Viper events, the Ottawa rendezvous will be something similar satisfying the highest standards. However there are a couple of differences which should make this event unique. Ottawa region is surrounded by large forests and a couple of interesting places to visit. The traffic is fluid around the city. It will be fairly easy to keep a large Viper Group together. The track is located in a beautiful tourist region. And guess what ? Prices are reasonable!

We built a very flexible package so you only pay what you need and what you want:

[*]Hotel including breakfast is only 139$US/night +tx+service. You stay as long as you want.
[*]The lapping on the track is 449$US for the two days.
[*]City visit for the Ladies will be free (Unless ladies decide to make some shopping)
[*]Dinners and drinks will be charged according to the menu that you choose.
[*]You are free to join us any time any day.
We are working hard to add a couple of surprises to this program.

To make this event financial viable we need at least 80 cars and we are ready to take up to 100 bookings for the event. The track rental cost is 35000 $US for the week-end with all the fees! 4 guys from the Quebec Club are financing this event for the Viper Club. We are insuring that the club will not loose any money. We also took all the measures necessary to sell the 100 places available for this event. The Quebec and Ontario clubs are not enough large to provide the 100 cars. We are counting from Ontario and Quebec on 30 Vipers. We hope that we will get at least 10 Vipers from the neighboring States: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Ohio. The 60 other places will go to guest cars. You can invite your friends you neighbors too. We hope to see more than 40 Vipers. For the moment the Viper club has 50 places booked. We can accept more than 50 Vipers it is up to you guys ! We will neither hesitate to fill up the missing places from other local clubs. The event will take place. We paid the track and we already took 9 reservations.

I have to tell you too that the purpose of this event is to show other people who we are in the Viper club and how much fun we have together. We would like to attract new members into the club. We want those undecided people, who are planning to buy a new performance car, to buy a Viper next time !

The registration form is available under:

Will and RT/10 with a hardtop need to have a roll bar?

PLEASE NOTE: If you have an SRT-10 convertable, the registration form states you will need to have a roll bar installed.

John,

All convertible cars will be accepted.
SRT-10 covers also the RT-10 model.

Actually we will remove from our registration form the convertible car restriction. We had a meeting with the instructors this Monday. The insurance will accept any convertible car for this type of event.

By the way, we have nearly sold 40 places for this event but we only received 9 registrations from the VCA. We will maintain the 50 places promised for the VCA until april 2007. As I told you guys, we borrowed the money to finance this $35000 event, there is no way to end up in deficit. It looks like we will have a fantastic party !

Can you please tell me how you plan to run the track time. Will there be different classes based on experience? Will you have instructors for beginners?

What are the rules on the track?

Thanks,-Jeff

Jeff,

We were planning to create 3 groups:
- Beginners and intermediate drivers other than Vipers
- Beginners and intermediate Viper drivers
- Advanced and Prof drivers Vipers and other cars in the same group.

Maybe we will create a 4th group for beginners who never run on track.
We will have 10 instructors for the 100 drivers registered.
Out of the 100 drivers we will likely have 20-30 prof guys.
The day will start with a "Follow the leader" program.
Then according to the needs we will give more help to those who request it or who need it. Beginners and intermediate drivers will get more help.

We anticipate that 50 cars will mostly perform solo-lappings.

Rules are simple: No contact ! We will define zones and strict rules for overtaking. Drivers will have to follow flaggers. Mandatory drivers meeting. Schedule will be published in May along with the assigned track group

The track team is made up of the following persons:
- At least 10 instructors
- 10 marshals around the track at critical sections
- 1 ambulance with a professional emergency physician (this was tough to get)
- 1 Towing truck
- 2 Supervisors in pits

Schulmann - Ok this is awesome (fantastic). I will spread the work to all my other car club contacts too. The New England VCA has the event scheduled and I will see to it that our members have all the information.

Thanks for you help and the outline for the track.

I received several questions regarding security. These are great questions.

Security and safety are very important to us. Maybe we didn’t explain it enough.

Porfolio of instructors
Unfortunately we can’t provide the resume of the instructors this is not public information. However we are working with a well know racing club/school from Montreal: TLC. They have lapping events on weekly basis !! They will provide instructors. List of instructors will be available in May. What I can tell you that VCQ is actively screening the instructors with TLC.

Training
This is not a racing event and neither a driving schools. It’s a friendly meeting around a track under close supervision. Only those that request or those that we feel are in need will get a personal training. People will have to follow strict rules on the track. Drivers will be divided into several groups according to their track experience and will have to attend mandatory training sessions. Rules and schedule will be published in May 2007.

Danger
All track events are dangerous, please read carefully the “Waiver of Liability” at the end of the presentation document that you received from your Club President. It clearly states driver’s responsibility regarding danger. In addition I would like to attract your attention to the fact that at the last major Viper event (VOI 9) a driver and an instructor were very seriously injured. The instructor lost his leg ! No matter what is the supervision on a track, all track events are deadly dangerous.

Medical assistance
Now your question regarding medical assistance is important. There is no hospital within 1 hour ride from the track. We will have an ambulance provided by the track and an emergency specialist on the track. We didn’t inspect this ambulance. This specialist is from Quebec and is not an Ontario certified doctor. However Dr. Hugo Grenier has been practicing for several years at the emergency room of the Thedfordmine hospital. Now if you think that the remoteness of the track is a problem for you, you should not attend this event as a driver neither as a spectator. The remoteness is a risk that all participants must consider seriously.

Safety
The security of the participants is very important for the Viper Club of Quebec. Track rules will be strictly enforced. Rules and schedule will be published in May 2007.

Experience of organizors
This is our first major Viper track event under the name of the Viper Club of Quebec and we are taking the organization very seriously. We have a serious safety responsibility. We are working with people who have extensive knowledge in organizing and managing such event.

Technical inspection
As the registration documentation states, we will not do technical inspection on cars. However contrary to other Viper events, all participants will have to certify they have done it for their security. If we discover that a driver or a car has the smallest security risk it’s the exit door right away for both of them. We are not making the smallest compromise on security it is clearly stated in the presentation document. We also reserved the right to prevent people attending the event.

We have 15 places left out of the 80. So fare we have 38 Vipers registered. We are still looking for a couple of participants.

We have 3 driver groups: beginners, intermediate and advanced drivers.
Initially we have promised 2 hours track time per day.
After having done 2 track days at this facility we were able to reorganize things and now we can gurantee 3 hours track time on Saturday and 4 hours track time on Sunday for advanced and intermediate drivers ! Beginners will still drive the two hours promised.

We have a great BBQ setup for Saturday. On Sunday we will give a big lunch box so people will be able to leave earlier and drive home with their lunch.

We are working with a small camera team to have a 1-2 hours DVD made of the event ! It is not so easy due to some technical difficulties but hopefully we will solve them (Compatibility issue between Sony and Macintosh ...).

We will have a couple of other big surprises for participants ...

These are some pictures from April 2007 just after the snow melted. It was a beautifull sunny cold day.
