Well I guess we can thank Avatar Man for our new site. My legal counsel advised me that the moderators, VCA HQ and Carroll Shelby had all been flooded with complaints about the unfair treatment that warm climate McViper owners (aka ME!) were given on this site in regards to their avatars. They decided to take away Avatar Man's avatar powers due to this blatant abuse of power. While they were doing that, they figured they may as well go on and overhaul the entire website :D VCA is trying to clean up the ranks and this was a blow for the good guys (aka warm climate McViper owners all over the globe) :headbang:

Crap... it's all messed up now. Can you at least fix the links that were there before?

Links are fixed - sorry about that!

The deal with signatures is that when we first started the forums (last version) pretty much everybody agreed we didn't want big banners or other signature stuff like some of the other car forums (Honda, Vette, etc.). Nothing to do with the cars or the people that owned them, but simply that the signatures on some of those forums are obnoxious and are just one more thing that needs to be moderated. More importantly, when a thread is loaded with big signature photos (especially animated ones) it causes the page and even the site to slow down. Case in point, that "other" Viper site has very few rules but they also discourage signature photos as well. It just makes sense.

And as for that Chad guy (and everybody else), the rules for avatars are simple: Avatars are currently for VCA Members only and are to feature a Viper, preferably your own. That does NOT mean some half-naked babe with a toy Viper on her leg. Those will be deleted and you will run the very real risk of having your avatar turned off completely. All of the prior forum rules apply.

We may make a couple exceptions for non-Viper Owners that have been helping with the site - most notably Austin. Not the babe part, but the ability to have an avatar. :D

i totally agree. signature pictures are annoying to say the least.

they also consume a ton of bandwidth that can be used speeding up the forums.

Signature pics don't bother me at all. I have the option to display them turned off in my preferences. The ability to add our own avatars is nice though.

We may return the signature pics at some point, especially if people know they can be shut off from viewing. Still, they do take up server time to load...

No worries here. I can take them or leave them. I saw them available while I was checking out the site and uplaoded a banner pic for our local club. Just trying to be a good member now. :)

Not a Goldmember from Austin Powers? :D

I am a little mixed on them myself, as I wouldn't mind a small pic/banner myself but know that they can get old pretty fast when you are scrolling through more sigs than posts...

No problem for me, I can't figure out how to post my avatar. Also what happened to the "toggle" feature?

No problem for me, I can't figure out how to post my avatar.

go to "user cp" at the top of the page. go to control panel, then edit profile. enter your VIN in BOTH blanks at the bottom. this should change you to an "owner". you THEN can add an avatar.
