Drive easy. Listen for knock. Do not lug engine up hills, or run near red line. When you have used up several gallons of fuel, top off with best premium you can find. Keep adding Premium as fuel is used. Should cause no damage if you do not hear knock. If knocking is significant I would siphon it out and pour into Ford. Don't expect one tank to cause any significant issues.

You BETTER be careful about using Octane Booster!!!!
Many octane boosters contain lead and will ruin catalytic converters and could foul up sensors etc.

Just drive the car easy and burn some up. Then top it off with Amoco Gold or Sunoco 94. It ain't gonna hurt anything running the 87.

I'm not sure if this applies to other states, but here in Virginia it's almost impossible to find any octane booster that actually has lead in it. Something tells me the EPA is at fault there so it's probably a national issue. Octane boosters in this country are based on sodium which has it's own disadvantages in the form of metal corrosion.

If I remember correctly, anything more than a trace amount of lead in any automotive fuel was outlawed in the mid 90's. I'd bet additives were not excluded so even if you did find one with real TEL lead, it wouldn't be enough to make a difference.

"NOS Racing Formula" octane booster is commonly considered the only booster that actually does increase octane.

Well I haven't bought octane booster in a long time but I still have to new cans of 104+ from 10 years ago sitting in a wall cabinet in my shop. I know their brand had lead and they even sold a lead additive in a grey can. I know also years ago that "The Outlaw" octane booster had lead because a friend of mine put it in his car back in the mid 90's and it fouled up his cats and O2 sensors. Just be careful.

I still see at swap meets and big car shows like carlisle and the nats where vendors must have stockpiled the stuff from years past selling the stuff today. You're not gonna feel any difference by adding it so don't even consider using it unless your car is over 10.5 or 11 to 1 and all that is available is 91 octane etc. At that point you should be looking for Cam 2 anyway!

I have been caught on 87 octane without any onboard NOS booster, limped along for a few hours without any high rpm runs nor overgeared lugging and had no problems. No detectable pinging, dyno runs/ 1/4 mile passes after and no issues to speak of. Small side benefit of a low compression motor perhaps. Otherwise I live on Suncoco 94.

Oh, the best part, when limping on the 87 up near Grand Bend, Ontario, what comes flying up beside me, passes me and wants to run, a Yellow Z06. True story......ugh. I just shook my head, surely he told his family over dindin about the Viper guy that was scared to race!!
