BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND!

The Pennsylvania Grand Canyon cruise/poker run has been requested by many of our members again this year. This year’s event has been scheduled for Saturday, October 14th. For those who have never visited “The Canyon” (Wellsboro PA), it is a breathtaking view, especially in the fall, with all the leaves in their vibrant, blazing colors. Wellsboro is a neat, quaint little town, the seat of Tioga County. As we did last year, we will begin and end this cruise in Williamsport PA, home of the Little League World Series. Final plans are pending, but this is what we have worked out so far: If you plan to participate in the poker run/cruise, there will be a $50 per member/couple registration fee. Half of the $50 fee will go towards the “Prize ***” and the remainder will go towards lunch at the historic Penn Wells Hotel in downtown Wellsboro. The cruise will begin at the Best Western – TGI Friday’s Complex in Williamsport, promptly at 10 AM. (PLEASE NOTE - This is the same location as last year, however, the hotel has changed its name from Holiday Inn to Best Western.) We’re still working on the cruise route which will be somewhat different than the 2005 run. Our fall meeting will take place during the hors d’oeuvres party back at the Best Western at approximately 4 PM. Dinner is scheduled at 6:30 PM at “The Villa” which is within walking distance from the hotel.

For those that wish to stay in Williamsport on Friday and/or Saturday evening, a block of rooms has been reserved at the Best Western, 1840 East Third Street. Call the Best Western (1-800-369-4572) by October 1st to reserve your room. Reservations received after that date will be provided on a space available basis, at regular hotel rates. BE SURE TO MENTION THE PA WV VIPER CLUB to obtain the club rate of $78.00 per night.

We have arranged for a security officer to guard the "snake pit" in the hotel parking lot on Saturday evening and throughout the night.

You are welcome to join us for any or all of these events. For planning purposes, please let us know you are coming by contacting Ginger at 607-426-0837, or email [email protected], by October 11th .

Note: If you have the need to drive a vehicle other than your Viper, you are still welcome to join us for these events.

You forgot to mention the time for the 200+ miles, was it 2 hours???
:2tu: Nice canyon carving!!!

My Viper is pretending to be a Saab right now. (It does not work..)
I may unfortunately have to skip, bummer. I know it will be a super nice ride! Maybe I'll bring the Lexus SC400???

Get your Viper fixed before next Saturday Lauri. It will be a test...you can probably do 200 miles in 2 hours in your Viper.

Yes, bring the Lexus and the family. The more the merrier! We're showing the club video at the party back at the Best Western. You really need to view it in the company of fellow Viper owners and club members. You represented the club well in this video!!!

Ed is coming on Sat AM and returning Sat PM.

We have 17 Vipers as of today.

Hope to see you!!!

Denny, is Larry coming from the Md club, I think their cruise date was changed to this weekend, which would free him up for the canyon cruise :2tu:

Kind of difficult, since I will be in Dallas....
Unless it's Chuck, nobody works on my car.

I'll see if I'll humiliate myself in the ricecooker...

Just heard from Larry this AM. They aren't participating in either cruise. Says he can't come...too much to do at home. The MD VA cruise is a total of 600 miles, and it's supposed to rain. He doesn't want to get wet!!!

 Pray for sunshine next weekend!

I would think that someone that high up in the government could have the rain cancelled ;)

As an FYI, due to the number of Vipers arriving at the hotel this Friday evening prior to the Grand Canyon Cruise, we have elected to hire the security guard for both Friday and Saturday night. Those of you that attended last year know that the hotel is not in a bad section of Williamsport, however, it is a high traffic area. The guard will be on “snake patrol” from 9 PM to 6 AM both nights.

Also, as of this morning, the hotel is full for Saturday evening. They still had a few rooms left for Friday night. If you have not yet made your reservation and have difficulty doing so, Ginger might be able to help. Call her @ 607-426-0837.

We're still on for this cruise on Saturday. It's going to be about 50 degrees, partly cloudy. I don't see any precipitation in the forecast for Williasmport or Wellsboro.

To join us call Ginger (607-426-0837).

I want to take a second and thank Denny and Ginger for planning this cruise. I could tell it was very well thought out and the planning was A +. From the route they chose to the restaurant in Wellsboro this trip was wonderful. We realy wish we could have stayed the night. Plus the bottle of PA / WV Viper Club wine was a cool gift :2tu:

Lauri, we will have to definitely do this drive again even in spring or for that matter I would do it again this year if you want to go for a spin. I saved the map that Denny and Ginger made. Glad you got your car running. :nana:

Here are a few pics, but for the most part I was to cold and lazy to take more pics. I know Carmen probably has some good pics. Also, I gathered that a lot of viper owners that were on the trip, don't seem to post on the forum. They must have real jobs. :D

Thanks for the nice compliments Ed. The weather was great, the turnout was great with 17 VIPERS participating, lunch was great, the cruise was great and the company was awesome. We met several new friends this weekend. Each time we meet a new Viper Club member, we feel like we have known them forever. Viper owners are truly "special friends." Denny and I enjoy working with the Viper Club.

Sorry to say that neither Denny, nor I, know how to post photos on this site.

Carmen, can you help us out with that by posting some of your shots?

Thanks to all for a great weekend! :)
Ginger (& Denny)
