I hate to disagree with Jon B, but I have had 3 Vipers, '94, '96 and now a 2000 GTS. The 2000 is the only one that has done this. And yes, I do have a Snake-Oyl rear assembly on mine. With the console removed you can see how the lever attached to the button has play, and I could find no permanent fix to stop it. So, I put a bit more white grease in the end of the mechanism where the lever slides against the interior of the handle. This seems to have made it slightly less able to rattle as the grease helps retain it. It hasn;t completely eliminated the rattle, but it did make it better. I don;t use the e-brake when the car is parked, but every now and then I do need to tap the button to make it stop rattling.
