The parking brake on my 98 GTS works once every three or four tries. Lately its been more like every 5-6 tries. I know its not engaging correctly but even when the car's on the lift I can't see where it has jumped a pulley or something. Can someone advise where to look for the culprit pulley?

I suppose one gets to that from the console and not from underneath?

Thanks for the pic. I figured it was a console deal since you really can't access any of that stuff from underneath. I'll pull the console and have a look to see what's wrong.

Ken always adds the most helpful pics to threads! :2tu:

I've never looked at mine but I'd expect you want to focus your attention in this area. There should be some type of spring tensioner that is failing to engauge the ratchet with each pull.

Maybe you will see something obvious when you dig in... Good luck.
