Where are you guys ordering your Paxton superchargers? There doesn't seem to be very many vendors carrying them, and pricing is rarely listed. What is the typical "street price" for this kit?

Links are welcome :)

Buying the supercharger seems to be the easy part. Finding someone to professionally install and tune seems to be the more challenging part. Not sure if I would want to risk going cheap only to have something major go wrong later on. Also seems to be a good amount of debate on having the proper gauges installed - ie an a/f meter to monitor the system at all times.

Installation isn't an issue, I've built quite a few cars myself. One of them even made the cover of Popular Hotrodding.

Installed my own Paxton......took 33 hours, but I have a bad back.....and I took my sweet time! Superchargers on line gave me a better price than Superchargers for less. $6,500 delivered to the door. When found out that a local tech wanted $2,500 to install......I took it upon myself to install. The crank damper bolt was a ***** to "break loose", and had to buy a 3/4 drive 350 lb capacity torque wrench from Harbor Freight to get the job done! (250 lbs from the factory!)......and drilling and pinning the crank damper was &%$(*&##!!! PITA!....other than that no issues except, it's a tedious job.....now that I know what to do with the experience that I had with this one, it would be much easier. The installation manual is really very good..had 2 questions during the install with wiring, and the help line had me on the right track in no time!! To say the least, I had a sense of accomplishment when I finished, and EVERYTHING worked! No issues to date, and runs like a scalded ape! (Also have Belanger,s and 3:55 gears, which I recommend with this kit!

If you do it yourself take the front fascia off as well, saves time and effort in the long run.

Don't forget to remount your horn. Paxton mounts block the sound. DC Performance sells the proper mount.

Enjoy your new power. Many feel that the 3:55 gears are a bit much with this upgrade. You might consider going back to 3:07's after a bit.

Nope......won't go back to 3:07's! The 3:55's are perfect! Also, I made my own horn mounting bracket (cost me nothing as I had the metal in my garage), and I didn't take off the front fascia...and had no difficulties with it during the install....it would have been just another THING to do, and I didn't feel it was necessary...however, if you think that it makes it easier....more power to ya!

In the past I have also thought 3.55's would not be needed with the paxton... but after getting used to the paxton power I feel 3.55's would make it even more fun.

the paxton with the 3.07's 1st gear and sometimes 2nd gear is useless. I really only get on it in 3rd and 4th gear and most races are freeway roll ons so 3.55 would help out quite a bit in that area.

when they break I'll add a quaife and 3.55's:2tu:

also don't see a need to pull the facia off.

Woodhouse Dodge sells them, and they're a sponsor of this site. They also have a lot of experience with instals and will warranty their work!!!! Got a warranty?

They also sell the most Vipers in North America. Might save you thousands to go with them.

I would have to agree with you on this, its just worth it even if its a few more bucs, you are going through a reputable source, warranty, etc. and I'm sure they could negotiate especially if your going to have him do more work for you, I bet you will save going through him.

I would definately check with Chuck Tator(Viper Wizard) I'm sure he has very competitive prices as well, and well his name says it all.

Re: Paxton pricing? & Woodhouse

I HAVE to put a plug in for Bill Pemberton @ Woodhouse. I've done 2 Viper deals so far and am thinking about a third. He is the best! All of the shipping from Neb. to CA goes real smooth.
Anyhow, now I'm looking to put a Paxton in my 2005 SRT10 Viper Dual Cab Truck. I'd LOVE to find a installation PRO in the Sacramento area...... but may have to ship my ride back and forth to Woodhouse for a perfect installation. Does anybody have Installation tips for MY area????

Carl,

DC Performance in L.A. is the only place we do buisness with on the west coast. I'm sure Dan, Tony, Lyle, and Chris will be able to help you build a super quadcab!!:2tu:

You can always contact Paxton for a dealer referral in your area. Installing a supercharger isn't difficult, and any competent performance shop should be able to do this. It isn't like building an engine or porting heads, it is basically a tedious bolt-on modification.

Ken,

With the Belangers on your car and the "stock" Paxton system I was wondering if you dyno'ed the car after the install? The car may run like a ***** ape but could be running VERY lean with the headers and I assume a cat back in the mix. The stock fuel system is not really equiped to deal with this much extra air. Please have it checked if you haven't, A/F should not be higher than 12.2:1.

The $6500 was for unpolished and they come with a full warranty. They also install the Paxton & do custom tuning on the Viper - but if I was getting the work done I'd go with someone referenced on these boards.

I've installed all my own blowers on my cars since '87, so I don't need to go turnkey or installed.

If you are looking for a turnkey though, there are incredible folks available here, like Woodhouse, DC, and other great dealers for quality warrantied work with great track records. (pun intended)
