Do the high performance clutches hold up better than the stock clutch? Do the shift as smooth or smoother than the originals? Also do they work well with aluminum flywheels?
I haven't heard of a better clutch than the factory one so far. But I don't have to worry about that, my car is bone stock!
What type of performance clutch are you going to use?
Not very sure what type, kevlar something or other, reccommended by JonB and not much dearer than standard so I thought I'd fit it at the same time as Al flywheel. Hope its ploughing through the Atlantic at this very moment on its way to dear old Blighty.
Original clutch was great in my 96. replacement sucked! Jon B commented they softened up the springs to take some NGR out of the replacement items. So, beware of the replacement from the parts dept. It won't be like the original. I'm going to try a Centerforce, if that doesn't work I'll find the old original truck clutch at the Zone.
Clutch masters make a dual or tripple disc clutch for the Viper, much lighter than stock and holds more power.
The funny thing is that after talking with them, it seems that not too many vipers out there have em. I told them its because no one knows about it, and that they should advertise. Not much good that did, this conversation took place months ago.
