I know the factory teams were using GTS's for racing, but didn't Vipers race before the GTS? If so, can anyone provide pictures of racing RT/10's?

Thanks very much.

I would so love to bring the two together again for a Viper Magazine article.... got a Nikon D100 for the pictures, all I need is detailed background information.

Thanks, not sure I've seen that one. Any place to get more pictures of it?

Also, did they not professionally race RT/10's because I come up empty googling them? Considering that Viper didn't come out with the GTS until 95 (think that was factory team only), do I assume there were no factory teams using RT's?

Thanks very much.

Not much feedback. Tried to Google the Rent a Car Systeme RT/10 (red), with absolutely no luck...no pics, no info, nada!

Just trying to get an idea of what a setup RT would look like, as clearly the body differs greatly from the GTS in terms of racing aerodynamics.

Thanks.

Okay, thanks very much. Seems like a definitive answer, so guess I'll stop knocking myself out searching for pics.:crazy2:

Appreciate it.

The #40 Viper is a 1992 & the #41 Viper is a 1993. They both participated in the 1994 LeMans Race. I think that the #41 Viper DNF and the #40 Viper finished the race. The #40 Viper was sold to another team who then raced it in the 1996 Daytona Rolex 24 Race. It was there with the first Canaska Viper GTS-R Team. The two GTS-R's and the old #40, 1992 Viper were together on the Daytona track at the same time.

Markus,
Thanks for posting the photo of me kissing the #40 Rent A Car good bye!

That's great, appreciate the backstory. I guess the GTS was their big entry into pro racing.

Peter

The owner of it is Viper Nut enough to notice a post that I had made on a Dutch car forum at 7:22PM (7:22 being the ACR Nürnburgring record) exactly :eater:

Yes they did. In 1:43 by Minichamps and if you feel like hunting the needle in the haystack there is a 1:18 version of both made by SMS (a company that modified a number of Burago cars) which is extremely rare and very hard to come by.

Very nice, don't think I've ever seen that for sale anywhere. Great for an early RT/10 collection.
