Definitely a butterface in my books. Everything butterface

A lot of the Gen V I like. But it still doesn't flow to me. There are too many different styling influences. It looks like a frankencar. When I look at the GTS in your photo, it flows beautifully. When I look at the yellow Gen V, it looks funny. I can't quite put my finger on it. Part of the problem though is the front end goes too low. I'm sure it helps reduce drag but it looks goofy, kind of like the Comp Coupe World Challange cars. The new SRT grill is also goofy. Perhaps if it weren't blacked out it would look better...This car just looks way off to me. The panel gaps have nothing to do with it.

Killer Viper...you know what. I think thats it "Butterface". If you put a nose on it that looks like a viper that body will work. Thats the missing piece to make this car work. That faux ferrari/mercedes snout down front end is the problem with this car. Give it a big deep breathing flat snout like a viper needs and this whole car will come together as a package.

+1googleplex...........The front has always been the only problem with this car for me. Just doesnt fit the car at all. I stopped complaining about it because its obvious this is the production front. Seems like quite a few like it the way it is though. Different strokes.

Agree with both of you. Head on front shot, without being told it was a Viper I'd have no clue what it was. Not good.

And no point in complaining anymore, the Euro obsession won out and it's time to accept it. Such a shame. At leas the width of the GTS-R makes the nose a little more palatable. :(

really? confused it for something else? For me, it is pure viper and actually more so than prior models. What color is the inside of a snake mouth? usually darker than the rest so I think that aspect is more snake like. I also think the headlights are much more snake like. So, while fit/finish of this test mule is a bit suspect, I think the design is spot on and such a step away from the prior design weak points.

I too am underwhelmed by the Gen V on all fronts; the yellow looks worse than the Red. If I was a Gen II owner, the Gen V might be tempting as a trade up.

As a Gen IV owner, the marginal performance increase (most of which can be made to my Gen IV--e.g. ported intake, low-restriction exhaust and cats, new 5th and 6th gears and 3.55s), polarizing looks and continued ergonomically-challenged cockpit make it a hard sell for the $50-60k a trade will entail. I am on the list with many others for the ACR. I am hoping that the ACR steps up in many ways, including transmission choices, power (700hp!!!!!) and looks (like the ALMS car please!).

Nevertheless, it is fantastic that Dodge--whoops, SRT--found a way to continue the Viper. This provides hope for the future!

I agree, absolutely no reason to upgrade from a Gen 4 especially an ACR which looks way more ferocious than this car. Hope they make an outrageous ACR in a few years.

Just to make sure I understand this correctly. A car that is lighter, more powerful, better geared, better handling, massive interior improvements and looks substancially better (my opinion, but see in in person and you will know), and you say you are "underwhelmed". What would have made you not "underwhelmed"?

I'd like to see the new car is a pearl white or balloon white. Seems like it would fit the car well.

Something like Lamborghini's Grigio Telesto would work very well too.

First off my comments are directly related to the GTS in yellow. This does not apply to any other pics I've seen.

Don't get me wrong, the sides and rear are pure Viper. It's the weird front that gets me. I can't imagine how anyone could look at the front 3/4 and tell me it has beautiful lines. But when you say " For me, it is pure viper and actually more so than prior models." that doesn't make any sense. Unless you mean this car is more like the actual snake, from the wild. "Prior models" includes the original Viper, how can a post model be more Viper than the original Viper? (rhetorical question) Seriously though, I understand your more snake like stance and I won't argue with that. My point is it doesn't really resemble the Viper car to me. It looks like it could be in the dodge/SRT lineup because of the grill, but it looks like a $70k V8 Viper to me (front view only).

Im with you on your feeling of the regular Gen 5 Viper and the GTS-R. I would hope SRT listens to the Viper faithful and make the upcoming ACR look like the GTS-R, of course where practical for the street. The fog lights and the width of the GTS-R is what the Viper should have looked like if they are going to use those small, dainty, eyelash headlights:D.

Ahh, gotcha on the yellow. Yes, when referring to more viper, I was meaning more in reference to the snake it was named after. The cross-hair grille for all the early years was simply a dodge brand and really had no snake influence. The headlights attempted that aspect. With the new car, I see them really looking for more snake qualities which I think is great. I just know seeing in person (although the red) never looked cheap or anything other than a more exotic snake.

My historical memory banks may be a little foggy but the Viper was never intended to actually look like a snake.
It was merely a continuation of the reptile moniker started by the name Cobra which of course is the forefather of the Viper.
Nobody every said a Cobra was supposed to look like one. It was just a cool name denoting speed, raw power and menace.

+48 to the pearl yellow. Those flat colors look good on the old school cars (challenger to name one), but the halo vehicle needs some colors like VR and SSG. Still wish it had fog lights. :(

I think I'll be happy with the old fashioned old school Race Yellow like is on Shooter's 09....

Holy Crap, I just saw that Volado design. I love that design. I would sell my ACR and buy that car in a second! OK, I love my ACR...but I would want that Volado.
