Plastic Discolored, Help

What are some options you guys/gals have discovered for fixing the external/internal plastic that gets discolored or starts peeling? The door handle surrounds are peeling like they have been sunburned and the console and dash had to be replaced with carbon fiber for peeling as well. The dash is ready to split in a 1" section at the air bag hole and I practically own stock in Armor-All.

My car is an '04, has less than 16K miles and is stored in a garage but the plastic between the hood and the windshield is turning grayish with what looks like corrosion. Is there a chemical that returns it to black plastic? I have tried everything in an auto part store. Has anyone had success with painting the plastic?

Also, the windshield weather stripping pulled out from around the windshield creating a 6 foot whip that almost made me wreck at 130+ on I-95, anyone seen this before? I wish I would have drove it more in the beginning so this could be a dealer expense...

Well first of all when I detail my cars and others I do not use armor all. Years ago when I used it it would crack all my dashes and leave that greasy oily residue. It drys out plastics and rubber bad IMO. I use Adams VRT of my tires and outside trim and Einzett (sp?) cockpit premium detai spray for the inside. It leaves a flat finish and wont dry stuff out. Also Autoglym is awesome. I know of a guy who sells it online and it gets stains out of anything whether it be leather, suede, carpet, alcantara so on and so on. that's about all I got for now. Sorry to hear about your troubles from the explanation of your problems, I suspect that we have a few issues here;

1. external/internal plastic that gets discolored or starts peeling?

First the Sun's and UV rays are the number one enemy of plastic parts in addition some plastic parts over time will discolor and that's simply due to the type of material, and nothing will stop that, think of the same dilemma with some automobile headlights. It doesn't matter how well you care for them the faith is already predestined if the parts are peeling theres no fix for that.

2.Is there a chemical that returns it to black plastic?

Theres some products in the market that claim that they can restore this, but be aware it will be temporarily. If the surface still in good shape you can certainly protect it with products designated for that task.

3.The dash is ready to split in a 1" section at the air bag hole and I practically own stock in Armor-All.

I'm going to pretend that I never read that Rubber/Vinyl and Leather, The surfaces we have listed that the product can be applied to are subject to UV rays, and this is what the biggest enemy of these surfaces is. Technically, what you are doing is applying a coating to the surface that does two things; (1) as mentioned, it gives a protective coating to protect against the sun's UV rays which cause deterioration of the surface. (2) It keeps the surface soft and supple, unlike most products on the market which after a while causes the surface to dry out, then become brittle and start to dry crack.
