Plastidip.. Anthracite Grey

Decided to change the look of the wheels for now. I used anthracite grey, it has a slight metallic finish compared to the original plastidip colors. I sprayed the side emblems the same color to match.

I used a gun metal grey color plastidip on my Dodge Journey wheels last year. It was my first time using plastidip. It held up extremely well through this past winter and multiple car washes.

I like the anthracite grey. I just did my 6-spokes in black for a little different look than the aluminum, but I really wanted a dark metallic color to match my stripes (graphite metallic). I didn't know this color even existed. Just ordered a couple of cans and will see how it turns out. That's the beauty of this stuff. Just peel off the black and start over.

The black holds up well on wheels. I ran a few weekends last year with my track wheels done in black and the only times it ever got messed up, were when I went into the tire barrier with the passenger side and when the flatbed had to come get me after my transmisison let go (he used unpadded straps through the back wheels to tie me down). I have padded wheel straps that I use for trailering to the track and they've never caused any issues.

I have The same on my srt10 quad ram.
Did them last fall and they are still looking great. Wife drives it. Some curb rash. They get rust marks on them from the brakes but it washes off.

I bought 4 cans of the anthracite grey and 1 can of Glossifier. Figure about 1 can per wheel. I did 4 coats of the grey, and 1 wet coat of gloss plastidip. I have about half a can of grey left.

Black and White can be purchased locally like a Home Depot or Lowes. The custom colors can only be purchased online as far as I know.

With all those coats, how thick do you think it is... like .025" to .030" thick maybe?

that looks really good. i might give that a try with my rims. i will have to play around with photoshop and see what i color i like with steel grey.

It actually spays very thin, just like spray paint. You made me curious so I took my test piece that I sprayed last week ( 4 x 4 inch tile) and peeled the plasti dip. I used a micrometer and it is roughly .005"
