My 98 GTS has 18k miles on it with original plug wires. Should they be replaced? I have read that around 15k miles they should be replaced, but if so, how do I KNOW that they need to be replaced? Can I test them somehow?

You dont want to know when they need to be replaced... Do it as preventative maintenance.

I would go either with AB's or stock Dodge. Depending if you like the stock or custom look.

I change mine around 15K intervals. I have 55K miles and 4th set. Next set will definately be AB's.

If your wires are in good shape ( no cuts, burns, etc) and their internal resistance check out OK, there is no real need to replace them
Resistance values:
Per Inch: minimum 250 Ohms maximum 1000 Ohms
Per foot: minimum 3000 Ohms maximum 12,000 Ohms
Just mesure each wire and check for resistance against the above values
