I had instructions saved from a post about changing the wires and plugs. Since my PC bit the dust, I can't seem to find the thread.

Can someone give me a quick rundown? How does the cowl clear the wipers, and how do I remove it? Other than that, it looks strait forward... 3 bolts for the heat sheilds right?

Removing the cowl facilitates R&R of wires. The hardest part is getting the wipers off. Carefully remove the cap at the end of the wiper arm with something soft. Once that is off it's just a matter of unbolting the wiper arm. The cowl can then be removed via the 4 screws that hold it on.

Ok, so after the wipper arms themselves are removed (spring loader and pin), then the little L shaped piece is pryed off (the rest of the wiper arm/motor piece) eh? strait up/out?

already have the heat sheilds out

What's the prob Max? Have you got the wipers off? If so, 4 screws hold the cowl. 4 screws hold the heater intake (not sure about 96).

After you pull out the heat shields and BEFORE you pull out the plugs blow the dust out of the plug socket. The heat shields leave little aluminum particles that you don't want to fall into the cylinder when the plugs are out.

REMOVAL
1) Lift cover over the pivot nut and remove nut
2) Remove the arm from the pivot by using a rocking motion.
(Using a battery terminal puller might make things easier.)

INSTALLATION

For installation, before installing the wiper arm and blade, turn the wiper motors ON, then turn wiper switch OFF so that the wiper motor will stop in the park position. Set arm on pivot and postion it in the park position. Tighten the nut to 86.7 to 121.3 in. lbs. The washer hose is connected to the arm by routing the hose to the outside of the pivot shaft of the wiper motor.

The driver's arm must be above the passenger arm in the park position.

tomer, we should do another bay area get-to-gether soon. Celia's in Danville was a good turnout.

Just reviewed this thread, and I hope you received the info that you needed. By the way, MadMaxx, I e-mailed my phone numbers to you at least one hour before your second post...will still be happy to go over this step-by-step if you like. It's NOT a bad job, just a little tight in place !!!
