Picture this poring down with rain bad visibility 50 yards.
Duel carriage way going into one lane, Then from the right a police traffic car cuts me up and pulls in front of me no siren lights or indicators so I flashed him, 200 yards lights came on and he pulled me over and said "did you not like my last maneuver"
So I said "not really no indication or anything even I expect to get pulled for that"
He said "there was a reason for it the car in front of me was a suspect fitting the discretion of a car used in a armed robbery "

Then he went on to say how lights are there to let people now I am there not to flash people and cause road rage so be careful and drive safe .Meanwhile the suspected car is now 10 to 15 mins away and gone....

So where are the police priorities then ...............

Repeat after me...

Cops were nerds and abused as kids, so don't try to EVER act like you are right.... Remember, it only takes a G.E.D. to inforce the law....

You're in the UK.

If you were in the USA, the cop would have immediately pulled you over and done a felony stop (i.e. out of the car, hands up, on the ground). Then he would have either yelled and screamed and belittled you (if he was a nice cop), or called some of his friends to come harass you or rough you up a bit (if he was a bad cop).

And they wonder why nobody has any respect for them anymore? Gee, I wonder.

Most likely he ran the plates and found it was not the car. Also, flashing police? Then suprised when they pull you over?

If I am flashing my lights at am officer, I would hope he pulled over, as I think that would be a signal for "help"

Thoughts?

Thoughts...

So it still only takes suspicion of a crime and an officer can put YOUR life in harms way? Being cop on the job doesn't leave him any room for being a stupid cop... The cop knows what he did wrong by cuttin him off, and he knew that's what he flashed him for.....c'mon..

Gerald, it doesn't even take a GED to be president, doesn't mean they don't know what they are doing.

Most cops are "the good guys"

The problem is, the ones pulling you over for ******** are the ones who are the pricks. Thus, people saying "I have never ment a good cop" are correct, given that the good "majority" of the officers are not pulling them over as they are not doing anything really worth getting them pulled over for.

Did I say president? I thought I said cops...

Cops aren't good guys... They are all crooked.... Just ask one of them..

He admited he cut me up but it was the only way to get in front of me, But surely a armed robber is more important than me flashing my lights because he cut me up .
Light bulbs Guns let me think what is more important here, eerr Ill get back to you it could take a while.

Wow, oinker ignorance transcends the seas. But they don't carry guns over there do they? Maybe that's why they're not as big of aholes as they are here.

Forget about stealing, **** and ******, stop the real criminals - the ones doing 85 in a 70. ooooooohhh.

An armed robber might be armed, a flasher is probably just wearing a raincoat.

Which one would you rather stop if your valued your own life and were a police officer?

I doubt that if he cut you off to follow a suspected felon, that he would just let him go because you flashed your lights at him.
Sounds like either he was making an excuse for cutting you off, or he determined that the person that he was following was not the felon after all, and just wanted to make you feel guilty for flashing him.

Most of the police around here are reasonable (as long as you aren't breaking the law), but I wouldn't flash my lights at a cop unless there was something really serious at stake.

I have mindless dweebs cut me off from time to time, and I also don't flash my lights at them either, as they most likely have less to lose than me in a road rage situation.

He's obviously lying since the gun laws over there wouldn't allow for someone to be an armed robber, merely a robber.

Sometimes what determines what a Cop does is what kind of a mood he or she is in. I employed a female Cop a few years ago and she said she could either be very nice or down right nasty depending on the mood. She said if in a nasty mood she would hand out 15 to 20 tickets in one evening vs. next to none if she is feeling good.

Cops are generally good people who deserve respect as they help people everyday. Others are down right nasty.

There are very strict laws against gun ownership in jolly olde England So, I have to agree with slaughterj. They were just robbers. Wait a minute, Robbery is against the law too so it must mean they weren't robbers either.

My brother inlaw is a fairly liberal individual living in Seattle.

He was pulled over late one night somewhere deep inside West Texas by a Deputy Sheriff. He argued with the deputy about Civil rights and so forth.

The Deputy was okay about it, but I warned by brother in law never to do that again.

If you ever manage employees you know there are good and bad ones. In Texas the Dept of Public Safety is well screened and very well trained. Its pretty rare to hear about any problems with them. County Sheriffs are a whole different story. You don't have a clue who they are or what they're like. All you know is they have a gun and if anything goes down its your word against theirs. (Their cousin is probably the judge)

Why ask for trouble?

That's the wrong question V. How are things gonna change if somebody doesn't stand up to them? Their arrogance and power trip is outta control.

Ok, so they're not all bad. Then the good ones need to slap the bad ones around or give 'em the boot.
