Possible record? Over 3 months of dailing driving clean car w/o washing it.

It is the end of a great run. I did not officially mark down the last washing date, but I believe that after 11-12 weeks on not washing my daily driven Viper with water (I wipe the brake dust off the wheels, use a duster on the body and do the windows every weekend) I finally got caught out and had to drive home in the rain tonight. The car looked great the whole time, but not even silver can hide this rain mess. Oh well. The perks of desert living are not absolute.

Now to diagnose a small oil leak. Looks like the rear of the passenger valve cover. I'll try re-tightening the hold-down bolts and go from there, but I have already seen one cracked valve cover gasket on this car. Gawd I hate leaky cars.

I'm still SCERRRED to use that Cali. Duster on the body, especially on the rear where the dirt/dust/grime/carbon seems to build up a little bit. So you never notice minor scratches using this method? They are hard to see on silver (I know, I own a Silver/Blue). A great advantage to silver. I may need to give this method a try........

I don't dust aggressively on the rear ends/license plate area. It has little tiny soot marks which don't come off with the duster so no need to really go to town because it is not going to be perfect without getting it wet and sudsy. The car never has enough dust on it to be abrasive so all you get from the duster is little oily marks on the windows.

I switched off the cali duster to one that is real soft and looks like a cats tail when a cat has the crap scared out of it. Less chance for scratches. I stole it from my wife since it was a duster for the house.

I have been using California Car Dusters for 15 years, on daily drivers, show cars, etc.

I have yet to find any damage on any vehicle due to their use. The idea is to drag them gently over the surface....you don;t want to scrub with it.

I'm sure I've beat that time, it's great having Silver ;) I've had inch high dirt "dunes" on my sidesills where they are concealed by the hood, LOL

I have been using the Cal Duster as well with no problems. Like PhoenixGTS I go very lightly over the rear end area. I don't dust the underside of the rear quarter panels either, saving that for a wash.

I have seen the "cat tail" style used at the Conquers d'elegance (pardon me if it is spelled wrong:)) on vehicles selling in the millions of dollars.

Why do you guys wait so long to wash your car? 3 months? Hell, I wash my crappy 4 cylinder 96 Dakota truck more often than that.

Ulysses,
You can find this duster at Beverlyhills Mororsport at www.beverlyhillsmotorsport.com. It is a natural wool duster part #CCRE042 priced at $34.95.

I actually like their car duster better than the California Car Duster as it is thicker and the wax seems better. They have three sizes fron $12 to $20

If ANYONE has the record for washing his Viper I think it goes to Chuck. I don't thing Chuck has even WASHED his track car and he daily drives it. How many years has it been since it's been washed, Chuck? hmm? Inquiring minds want to know..

Maybe some of you are confused. What I mean is that I made it 12 weeks with the car NOT GETTING DIRTY other than some dust. No one would have ever know that I had not washed the car with water the previous weekend. I'm not saying I was just lazy and let it get dirty.
