can someone please post a picture of their rb1 without navigation on? I want to see what it looks like with just a cd playing. I don't really feel like adding a cd changer unless the screen looks ugly without navigation on. Just wondering if its too plain. Thanks in advance!

you don't want to swap nav dvd with cd to play. If you get navdvd scratched the system will start to freeze and you will end up paying $180 for new one. Believe me - you will get it scratched.

That's excellent advice, but could you not simply copy the DVD and archive the original? Arguably it is your right to do so even under DMCA. Personally, I rarely listen to CDs since the advent of satellite radio and/or the iPOD. Personal preference. So CD for the car need only play once disc.

I tried to backup but it must have some copy protection so the software I have did not take it. Beware - it is dual layer, you need the DL dvd burner and DVD @$10. Few false burning experiences may drive your cost to a new DVD.

I am surprised the DVD XCopy, DVD Shrink, DVD2One, Clone DVD, DVD Ghost or Sly Soft's Any DVD would not copy it. All reduce dual layer DVDs (via compression)to a single layer disc. There are also utilities that identify the copy protection scheme so that you know what you are dealing with. Again, if this is for archival purposes, you are within boundaries. Parents do this with their kids' DVDs which often have a variety of food particles before the kids use them as Frisbees.

That said, the RB1 may not be able to read DVD+- R/RW. Many car/SUV players do not.
