There are rumblings on another site that the head of Dodge has suggested dropping the price of the Viper significantly (20K) and boosting production to match the percieved increase in demand.
Any thoughts?
Do you think there is any substance to the rumour?
Even if it is not true, do you think the strategy would work? It has worked in some fashion for both BMW & Mercedes although through offering lower priced models.
I personally don't see it happening as they can sell every Viper they make even if they took production up significantly. I understand the plant is operating at 10 cars/day reading to increase to 14/day. If they took over the vacant Prowler line, perhaps they could move to 20-25/day. My guess is they will also bring out a coupe within 2 years that will also have a positive effect on demand.
