I am looking to buy an SRT/10. I would like to know what would be a good price for a used 2003 (I am hearing $67,000) and also I would like to know what would be a good price for a brand new 2004.

Also, what are the differences (if any) between 2003 and 2004.

Thanks in advance,

Scott

I too have been doing "research" on SRT pricing also. It seems to me that a realistic price for a used '03 would be from $66K to $69K. A good price for an '04 would be in the $75K to $79K range. There are a few differences between the '03 and '04 such as trunk carpeting and a convertible top cover. There may be others but, someone more expert than me needs to step up to explain.

That may be the "best" pricing for the few people that have to sell. But no way would I sell for over a 10k loss for 1 year. I have noticed it is generally the "enthusiasts" that make these low ball quotes. So keep holding out for that 66k '03 and you may find it. In 2-3 years when that is the going price.

I had a line on an 04 with 500 miles for around 75K. Biggest diff is the red painted brake calipers, and, hopefully, the 04's have sorted out some of the recall problems. I'd definitely look for an 04.

That is true,at the same time,I have seen a few posts lately from well known Viper owners, touting the low prices they bought their srt's for.

That is what I was referring to as a few "have to sell" prices. That does not drive the market as a whole. Good for the few but everyone should not expect fire sale prices.

Regarding '04's as recall free you must not be reading the various posts. I do not believe it means anything though as I have not heard of any long term effects of any of them. Mine dynoed around 445 RWHP so there is no truth to '03's having lower power, even if they had the valve issue. With a standard 7/70 warranty powertrain reliability is really a non issue (even though I have heard of no reliability issues with '03's that concerns me). Also, for anyone planning on adding a supercharger, there may be a benefit for an '03 with the larger crankshaft damper fastener (same as Gen II).

But after all that don't look to me if you want a car. I am not selling. I tend to collect these damn toys! :)

There are some deals out there,so why talk it up when you get one? That does more damage than good, for everyone. You dont see the guy who just paid 80k for an 04 talking about it,just the guy who "stole" his for 68k or 70k.Loose lips sink ships,I think someone said.Alot of owners are the first to talk about not selling your car below market value, but are the first to talk about the great "deal" they just got.JMHO

I concur. From the owner's perspective it does nothing positive to talk the resale value down.

Let me give it to you from a horses mouth. I purchased an 03 this week with under 500 miles on it. I paid well above what some have said to be "the going rate". This after weeks of scouting just about every car I could find.

If you can find an 03 SRT for $66-69k with less than 10k miles on it(the few I have seen in that range have been around that mileage) you should buy it immediately.

The best deal on a new 04 is right around $80k. You should call the dealers who support the VCA (Woodhouse, Vipermania, Tator, Buhler).

Otherwise like Viper_SRT said, you will be waiting for a long time.

I disagree. New 04 can be had for $77,500 + your state tax (paid in YOUR state when you register the car). Only reason I didn't purchase one is I decided I liked the looks of the GTS far more.

That is pretty darn good considering that the invoice is $73 and change plus the gas guzzler tax of $3k.

My bad. Just reporting what I found after searching diligently.

nd sounds better than vd.

I would consider invoice to be the bottom of the price range for new, unless a dealer is really hurting for cash flow and sticker price the upper end of the range. Where you end up is based on your negotiating capability along with the dealers need to sell.

It isn't surprising that enthusiasts are the ones reporting the lower prices. We're the ones out there looking for the best prices! I can understand an owner's displeasure upon hearing such figures but, Vipers are available in those price ranges. Remember that the '05 will be out soon as well as the new GTS and that will impact prices even more.

Perhaps I should have said "coupe" because who knows what D-C will call it. I don't think that it will be Competition Coupe but, you know what I ment.

Did they even announce a 'coupe' would be coming out? If so, you would think we would have seen some kind of spy photos or something by now, no?
