:)Hey all...where can I get that protective clear tape (cut to fit) that goes on the front end, behind wheels, rockers and on the top under the RT/10 hard top to protect the paint? I am having the Viper repainted and need to locate some. Any suggestions or should I just go to a generic source? Seen a kit on EBAY but I don't know if it is the same stuff and fitment. Thanks!

I just replaced all of mine over the winter. I used the 3m and cut it myself. It was very simple.

3M Paint Protection Film, Strip, 84904, 4 in x 84 in

How well does it apply to compound curved surfaces? Do you use a heat gun to form it? Does it just stretch? Just curious, as I to am looking to apply some to my new Lotus I brought home yesterday, and can't find anybody local to answer my questions. Thanks.:)

Small curves were easy, but like Agent says leave complicated curves to the pros. I didn't do any hard curves on my RT. I didn't use a heat gun just a lot of juice and elbow grease.

You can buy pre cut kits from sires like Paint Protection Film - XPEL Technologies Corp. or Paint Protection and 3M Clear Bra for your vehicle. Also known as Rock Guard..

Yes, it gets stretched over the compound curves. Complicated pieces are best left for the professionals.
:)The guy painting the car is a highly qualified and well known restoration man of all high end vehicles in Hilton Head Island SC area. He will be installing it. I don't think I have the patience!!! LOL Thanks for the info!

:)Yeah...I plan on letting the shop do the install after paint. I wonder if I should wait for the paint to cure? It will be baked in the booth but just as a precautionary measure?? I am sure the shop will give advise on that as well. Thanks!

Let it cure if you can, but if the paint was preped good, you shouldnt have a problem. Today I did a rt/10 that had its nose repainted and it was not a very good job, it did peel the clearcoat at a couple spots. After reapply the clear bra, you couldnt even tell, its all on the job. Who ever did this job, painted the nose on the car, didnt remove the emblem, it was a s*%&y job. You should not have a problem but if you can wait 30 days, its better but I have seen it put on within a day. If you do remove it, use a heat gun and it will peel right off.

I have been looking to replace the clear tape on my fascia as well. Anyone have a ballpark on price for painting the front fascia of a 96 blue and white GTS. I understand prices are dependant and realize it needs to be someone with exp on vipers. That being said if anyone has a
$ amount from past exp chunk it at me please.

Thanks,

Chris
