Put the Viper motor in the 300.

Anybody else think they should put the Vipers V10 in the Chrysler 300 SRT? I never got putting the Viper motor in the truck but the 300 would be badarse.

Actually a gentleman in the Salt Lake City area built one and was at VOI when held there. Some folks may have pictures of the beast -- the little V10 fit right in there!!

My friend has a 300 srT 8 and I thought it scoots pretty good for a luxo sedan as is.I could see the point putting a Viper engine in the Challenger, it's being overweight it might overcome of that problem with the V-10.

The new 6.4 is available with almost 500hp. Add a supercharger and you would probably equal or exceed the V10. And it has the advantage of cylinder deactivation for better fuel economy when you don't need all that horsepower. Kenne Bell advertises 600 to 1000 horsepower with his kits. Maybe his estimates of 1000 hp are high but certainly right there with the V10 without the hassle of changing the motor.

I personally think the V-10 should be an optional engine across the SRT line. Who wants the heat soak of a supercharger when you can get the torque and horsepower naturally! Would also encourage the aftermarket with more engines in production.

Maybe you missed the Corvette v. Gen V results?? Have you driven or been in a supercharged car? No heat problems with a properly prepared supercharger and, according to the tests, better come'on than a naturally aspirated V10. I really love my Viper but a supercharged V8 is a match for our cars most of the time and makes a lot of sense rather than switching out an engine. I have a friend with a supercharged Escalade and it is amazing for such a large vehicle. Of course comparing a 300 to a Viper or Corvette is silly but the 5.7-6.4 Gen Hemis are great engines and up to date in every fashion and, after looking at the Arrow motors, I don't think a V10 is even a consideration unless you just want to be different.

I agree that if SRT offered the V10 in their line up it would make for a better market for aftermarket parts for us and at better prices. BUT i also like the fact that if you want the V10 you have to buy the viper. ( And or the truck i guess ) But you know what i mean.

Was just over to the Edelbrock factory with the SoCal Club. They showed us their bolt on superchargers for the 5.7 and 6.1 Chrysler V8's. Could be a nice option.

However, there is a pretty large number of people, like you, that would love to buy a factory 300, Charger, Challenger, Jeep with factory installed Viper V-10 power!

Soon Chrysler will have a 6.2 sc hemi option for its lx SRT vehicles

I would love to see the Jeep SRT-8 with the new 8speed mated to the V-10. One can dream. :)

These wedge head V10 will never flow as good as the hemi heads. That is just fact. The only reason Dodge doesn't use it on the viper v10 is space, wedge heads take up less room.

The handling wouldn't be quite as good if the weight distribution moved towards the front. Obviously the V10 is longer and sits up further to the front; question is, is it lighter than the 6.4 (cast iron block)? All this aside, the cool factor of this SRT10 300C is pretty high! Thx for the pics.

Agreed. Having the engine available in a bunch of cars makes it lose some of its appeal.
