How much of a difference is there between the cam overlap in the 96-97's and the 98 and up cars. I would assume the overlap is greater on the 96-97 cars. Also, for the forced air induction cars, does the 96-97 cam have too much overlap? Paolo

Paolo -
Stock cams 96 UP TO 98 and 99 are fine for good forced induction performance. The only cam less desirable is the 00 - 02 for HIGH output systems. The newer cars utilizing the "spongy" or "bleed-down" lifters really take a plunge with less duration and minus 6 degrees.

Regards,
Doug

I would have to agree on that one. Cars between 96 and 98 make at least 20 more rwhp than a 99-02 car with the same level of boost.

Jason, I noticed you included 99 along with the 'puffs. Was that a typo or was there a change in 99 too?

Chuck, sorry that was not a typo. 99 cars don't seem to make the power that the earlier cars do. There is an audible difference in the sound of the cam at idle. They do however respond to most mods better than 00 and later cars.

Dan, all I can say is that your car is a freak! I would say those are some excellent numbers no matter what year the car is. Looks like Doug slipped a little something extra into your car. How many pounds of boost are you running? Let us all know how it does at Englishtown, Evan is an excellent driver. He should be able to squeeze every hundredth out of it. Good luck.
