There are so many variables now. You use to be able to put a figure on a Viper and be within hundreds. Now depending on what day it is, which way the wind is blowing, color of vehicle, etc it is all over the place. They are right though 08s are in the low 60s. I use to think that price was only reserved for the less desired colors like venom red but I just got a black today that shows otherwise. Colors like Slate crystal are still fetching somewhat a premium especially from independent buyers. You should be safe in the mid-high 40s. Best of luck to you.

Thanks Jared,

I am looking at two crystal slate pearl cars close to me but it won't worth it for me to pay a premium with Coupes dipping below 50 now.

Thanks man I appreciate it! I received the money today for my Vette so I am now officially ready to go.

Thanks Buddy!

WOW. Makes me upset I paid 70K for my 06 coupe. :(

I ended up paying the same thing for my new 01 in 03 with taxes. The way I look at is; although it was a good deal at the time, I have learned from the experience and overall, I have enjoyed all the miles I put on the car and it was worth it. Just have to watch the market more in the future with purchases, but I have NO regrets.

Hey guys,

Well it looks like my Z06 is selling this morning on Ebay so it's time for me to get serious about picking out an SRT10.

Buhler has an 06 Crystal Slate Pearl car with 22K miles on it. Higher miles but it does have some things I am looking for. I have cash so that part is out of the way.

I have been watching SRT10 prices for the last 2 months and know where there selling. What do you guys think an 06 22k Slate car is worth?

I was set on an 06 coupe but with the prices dropping so much on the 03's, and 04 Verts I just decided to save some money and get a vert.

Anyways I am looking for a good deal on a car anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks guys!

Andy Wheeler:)

I purchased my ‘06 from Buhler a few months back and had some issues:
1) I spoke with them on the phone before driving there (I'm 2.5 hours away in NY), negotiated a price and put a deposit on my Amex. I told the sales guy I had negotiated a 6.0% finance rate with my bank and that if he couldn’t match or beat it I would proceed with the loan through my bank. He said on the phone (3 times) that they could match it no problem. Once I finally sat down the best they could do was 6.5%. This angered me but I was already there, what could I do? I vividly remember calling him one more time as I was getting in the car to drive to NJ to verify this issue.

2) I was told the car has a corsa exhaust. When I started the car is sounded loud so I thought everything was cool. When I went to get the car inspected in NY I was told that there were no cats in the car.
I guess they forgot to tell me that huh?

3) I brought my car to get some service work done at a viper specialist on LI. He enlightened to the fact that the car did not have a corsa at all. It had the stock exhaust only.
Did they tell me it had a corsa to cover up the fact that it had no cats?

4) The sales guy told me that everything had been installed (K&N, Corsa, Gears)at Buhler. When I called them to get a record of this the service dept had no record of anything being done on my car.
Does my car really have 3:54s? The jury is still out.

5) When I got home with the car I noticed a nail in the tire. I called the next day to report the problem and they pretty much gave me the run around. They never fixed it.

I’m not the type of person to complain and call 50 times to get my way. I simply do not have the time and choose not to conduct business with that entity anymore. I hope you can learn from my mistakes.

WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THIS BUHLER?

Thanks Man,

I so far called them once and sat on hold for 10 minutes so I hung up. I did send them some questions through ebay on a car and instead of answering them they just gave me a number to call.

I called about 3 hours ago and left a message and have not heard back from them so, so far not so good.

We'll see what they say when they finally call.

No cats is not cool if they didn't tell you that up front.

Thanks for the heads up!

Andy

OK did speak to Buhler today got a call from him so that was good.

Might have to take one of the slate cars off his hands if the price is right.

I really feel for these dealers as they have taken a beating on inventory and massive price reductions. My local dealer even closed its doors after 20 years. However, Viperdreams' scenario is not acceptable. As the prices come down, so goes the quality of the experience at the dealerships. If good people in the business can't make the money, the B and C players are all that is left.

I have owned 5 Vipers, F cars, Porsches and a bunch of other stuff. I would only buy a used car from someone that you can trust or can verify the history 100%. Take my word for it. I lost my **** on an ebay Ferrari from a 'reputable' dealer.

Don't rush through it FLATOUT. Check and double check everything.

Not to worried about the power issue I went 740 to the wheels to my bone stock C5 Z so I know it will be slower for awhile. More concerned with getting the best deal I can. I would love an 08 if you can find one in the mid 40's LOL. Thanks for the help guys its much appreciated! Andy Wheeler:)

Congrats on leaving the 'dark side' and seeing the light! Id listen to Lee, and check out that Crystal Slate and make an offer......but BUHLER DODGE is a trustworthy place too. I have bought a car there, tho I live in WA, and just TRIED to get another: SOLD! As with ALL used-car purchases, be smart: Get all options/accessories in writing. If the trade-in customer claimed a CORSA, be sure its IN WRITING. The dealer may not have known. Oh, dont expect 2.5 hors of nail-free driving home.... no dealer will guarantee that.

It is unlikely you will get an 06 Coupe for 45k, much less an 08 anything at 45k. An 08 WRECK just sold on flea-bay for $44k !!!

WOW! And using your real name on the internet? Doesnt that mean the boogeyman will git you and your loved ones for sure, and damage your credit and drink your beer?
Scary Place, This !!! WELCOME !

Hey John I am a vendor on the Corvetteforum, and I also shoot feature articles for a National automotive mag so my name gets bounced. I don't care, it is what it is.

It's the market though plain and simple. I got a lot less for my vette then I wanted but it's ok because the vipers I am interested in have depreciated as well.

None of the coupes I have been watching on Ebay have been bidding higher than 38 to 43ish. They continue to relist them but unfortunately it's the market right now.

Can you imaging what people are getting for trade ins? It's also the dead of winter in a slow economy so it is what it is.

I wouldn't worry about mileage. My '04 is 3 years old and has over 40,000 miles and still is like new. I look at condition and price, recognizing that higher mileage means the car should be had for less.

I am not saving mine for the next owner and hope to shoot the mileage part of the 7/70 coverage before the 7 years are up!!

If I were you, I would get the car you like now. If Dodge does end the production of the Viper, prices are going to jump fast. This quote is teilling:

To clarify, Ive tried to be at the forefront of 'tips' to everyone on 08-09 stock deals for AARP, WalMart(gone), EP pricing, and 0% CF deals, $1000 VCA Bonus, and the value of using a VCA-Dealer. I've also urged those who DO want an '09 to order ASAP, because it WILL be a rare year, and perhaps even the final 'Dodge' Viper.

I don't know if the market moves on Vipers until the economy does whatever it is going to do, regardless of final production. Were we ever guaranteed that there was going to be an 08 after the lack of car in 07? Sure, we knew it from the indications but if this economic environment were prevalent during 06, no way the Viper was coming back.

For certain though the prices would stop falling if Viper production halts in 2009. When there are no more falling knives, the lower mileage or MSO cars will be gobbled up pretty quickly.
