You must put 1000 miles on the car at thr recommended RPm intervals in the breakin manual. This will properly seat the seals and rings.

The proper break in period is not in the manual; at least not the '99 book. The text in the manual was a cut-and-paste job from the Caravan owners manual. 50mph in 6th is idling, come one now! Somebody here has posted more reasonable (and accurate) break in directions that included max RPMs at different mileage points.
