Hey fellas,

Im in the process of buying another Viper, this time around a 2003 SRT-10 with 12k miles. Had a few questions after going for a test drive today that maybe you guys can help me with. Only mods are Eibach lowering springs and drilled/slotted rotors.

As we were turning at low speeds, I noticed a slight "popping" coming from the rear of the vehicle. The owner (who is a genuine guy as well as a fellow member) claims that it has something to do with the differential. Has anybody ever heard such a noise? Is this common?

The vehicle recently had new emergency brakes pads installed. It rubs for a little when driving just after putting the brake down. Is this normal?

I began to hear a quiet squeaking noise coming from the left side of the car. I put it in neutral to confirm that it was coming from the left side of the car. Could this be from the springs?

Anything you guys can help me with will be greatly appreciated! Thanks

i dont think its the springs, actually it could be the wheel itself- lossen and re-tork all wheels- hand tork.... also could be the ball joints, or yes the diff---. or maybe a hub bearing-prolley not thought, but these are all things i have run into on pop noises... ... those are my clues...

I have that exact year... I think good advice above and all possiblites. The disc on that side may not be seated properly and rubbing or warped??. The ebrake pads do wear from tire rotation and if they are new the sound may be noticable. It should subside though. I have replaced all of these items on my car, and did not experience any unusual sounds, (and was informed about the ebrake pads wearing by my mechanic.) Lift the rearend manually rotate. This may give you further clues.

I will usually do a few slow figure 8's in a parking lot to check for diff clunks on a test drive. If the rear is making a noise it's possibly a gear tooth or something else in the diff. I have Eibachs on my car and don't have any clunking from them.

I would get the owner to have the suspension greased, and see if that popping is gone. Happened on my 03.

If the guy is by the book with service, it should have had a diff fluid change, and possibly didn't get friction modifier reinstalled...just a thought
